Interesting as well. Do young birds fly themselves done? realising that they have overflown, then need to double back, possibly being too far too handle, thus destroying themselves? Its all ifs and buts and maybes, with the only solution being that trackers are fitted to some section birds. For the benefit of the SNFC, why don't the SNFC put up 2-3 trackers per section, have volunteers fit them to their birds, and then conduct a survey. I,m sure there's enough finances in the pot to cover costs, after all it may just help the SNFC in the long run. Only an opinion.
