  1. Most sensible post yet. Of course the wise men did come from the East
  2. Cant believe you have 7 races from Otterburn out of 18. You can add in at least another couple when the weathers dodgy and half your programme will be from there
  3. Went on day trip when on holiday nearby. Tour of Nou Camp, tea in Hard Rock Cafe and watched the fountains in the square after dark. Would like to have been there longer. Enjoy your trip
  4. What? Moans fae Lanarkshire. Never!!
  5. So much for Fletcher and Commons
  6. Wasnt at the sale cos I dont need any more pigeons but I sympathise with you. I have been involved in sales for bereaved and it is very difficult to put together with a lack of information. Your dad was well known and had some great performances but unfortunately it is sometimes difficult to get a turn out at sales of this kind. Best of luck anyway

    Shu Meeting

I remember long ago maybe 30 years seeing flown certificates being signed by folk in the show hall after the birds were judged. If there is any doubt the organisers should ask for copies of race entry forms with rubber ring details or ets print outs. By the way I think memebrs of any union should be allowed to show in racing classes. Think the flown certificate thing is just a red herring.
  8. Brave words. If everyone in the west moved to Ayton someone would still be last. Think about it
  9. The players should hand back their wages for the past two months
  10. Can I have a pint o what you are on
  11. You obviously are bothered cos you make a big enough song and dance aboot it. I have NEVER said that 3-400 miles is on a par with channel racing but a national prize winner at 400 miles from Eastbourne is not to be scoffed at and a bird doing 37 miles per hour for 11 hours is certainly no sprinter
  12. I would say a national is where the whole country can take part whether it is 300 400 500 600 or 700 miles. A 400 mile inland national gives exciting racing. That is what the modern fanciers want where it is over in 9 - 12 hours depending on the wind. You may not agree with it but that is the way it is
  13. Well you are the one to get the ball rolling. Get yourself a west of scotland amalgamation organised to race on the inland national dates then we will see where the loyalties are. Either that or move to Ayton. Another point all the specialist long distance clubs in England run races from 150 miles upwards. I would assume to make money and retain the interest of their memnbers in the early part of the season.
  14. Well Im afraid in the modern pigeon game if you only have channel races in the programme the national will be dead and buried in ten years time....Why?? because the majority of todays fanciers are not interested in long distance racing. By the way I love long distance racing but I also see the bigger picture. If the national only had TWO race next year from Alencon and Tours how many entries do you think they would get and how many members would resign?
  15. Never have believed that the inland races kill the Gold Cup. Yes there are birds go down at Newbury or wherever but that is always going to happen even at fed races. I dont believe there are that many fanciers who would send a doo to Eastbourne rather than Alencon if he genuinely though it was a Gold Cup doo. Jim O`Hara hit the nail on the head at an AGM a few years ago when they voted to bring back the June channel race. He said there are only a limited number of channel birds around and the more channel races you have the less entries you will get. If anything is taking Gold Cup entries it is Ypres because it is seen as an easier option and also counts towards a gold award
  16. No problem. Used to have to go to Gorgie Market and then Dalkeith (and back wi yer clock if you got a doo. The good old days lol
  17. If you want central to the whole of scotland Perth would be fairly close (not counting north of inverness or you would have to go further up the A9). All in the interests of fairness of course
  18. Never understood "likely to fly xxx miles". Saw a class last winter likely to fly 500 miles. Some of them couldnae fly 500 yards.

I think everything timed in up to clock check goes on result

Hardly surprising considering the wind direction and the majority of the entry was from the East. Have you seen the SNFC result
  21. You do a great job on behalf of fellow fanciers. You should name and shame the guy
  22. Thought the west had one fae Stafford last weekend
  23. My money is on the west lads moaning about the overfly the east lads get
  24. Well thats that then
  25. Excuse my ignorance but why would a national winning doo from Reims flying to Carluke be anywhere near Tranent. I bet the Largs doo yesterday came up the west with the first solway doos
