Well done Davy, ye might buy a jar o coffee noo
-
Very well done Ian great to see you at the top of the sheet mate.

I view training as risking ma doos lives every time i send them, so when i get a couple of races under their belt i stop training altogether. If they get done when out ranging it usually ends up like a bad toss anyway!!! Problem is i think its getting worse every year.

957 in Newmains club last week, this week there will be very close to half or less than half that birdage.
-
Well done Ovy1255, ther weren't any extra's at the stray centre tonight for the Lanarkshire fed but i see a few amongst the ones you have sent. Cheers and Well Done again.
-
Lanarkshire will be basketing for Sedgefield tonight.

Now where's that Dastardly and Muttly got too.
-
I have sent you a PM George,
-
Aye, if they are ready why not, just keep the older ones close enough to home for the younger ones to catch up. Personally i wouldn't train them this year at all if i were you, your just getting started and make no mistake you will lose some training them and i'm no sure you can afford to lose say 20/25% of what you have just now, JMO mate i know how keen you are to get them on the road but patience is your best friend just now
-
There is no need to take them any real distance George and the ones who are younger will slot in easily with the older ones in the training basket. If you start the older ones the now just go 15/20 miles with them, its enough believe me. The younger ones will do it easily when they are on the wing properly. jmo

Count me in, great idea for us who like competition SHU had a similar event quite recently, i cost ma self £1100 i think it was because i never sent the details in thinking it would be no use. How wrong i was

I believe the Fife boys went down the centre of the country about4/5 years back and had terrible losses, i don't believe the distance or direction of races will make much difference to the losses, whatever it is that is giving us erratic racing will surely be in every area of the country, i mean its no just certain area's that are suffering its everywhere so the problem must be everywhere

Perhaps the criteria for having a hold over needs to be looked at. Its all very well waiting for a break in the weather to have a race on a Saturday but if the Sunday is CLEARLY IDENTIFIED as being a better day for racing then the birds should be held. I'm as bad as the next man when it comes to total boredom because of no Saturday racing, but i would get used to it quicker if i knew i was getting better racing on the Sunday.

I don't see it as we Need to be Seen to be doing something about it, we should be doing it for ourselves and our doos, but here's the rub, there are far too many amongst us who couldn't care less about getting involved in finding solutions, they simply breed more than they have room for and send doos away racing who are not ready for a toss never mind a race. When for example did a member of your club refuse to put another man's doos into the basket because it was in no fit state to go??? Very Very few if any i would guess. We canny stop a man who over medicates his doos, in the belief they need it, from giving as much as he wants, That in my opinion is a HUGE part of the problems we face today in our sport. The most mild mannered members would be up in arms if his doo was refused entry or someone tried to tell him he cannot treat his doos for whatever he wishes too. Our sport is dying off in front of our eyes and not enough care about it to make a difference, those who actually would do something are hindered because they are the MINORITY in this. Same old lines coming from them just now because of the heavy losses at the weekend but wait until winter and invite them on to a committee or focus group to get to the bottom of this and the SILENCE will be deafening. This is not my Opinion on this, its what we are as a group, and there is not a thing we can do about it when our fellow fanciers have no interest in getting it sorted.

The best stuff i ever used to get the litter started was Spill Dry/Oil Spill out of the steelworks. It was like Kilpatricks grit to look at and dried the droppings in no time, great stuff. I canny get it now so when i built a new loft about 3 years ago, i scraped the droppings but left them on the floor of the loft turning them once or twice until they dried out. Now its like powder, i only clean the rough out leaving the rest to degenerate into the existing litter, bone dry and the doos look great

Well done Martin great to get the first 1st in the club
-
I think a lot of us would chip in to pay for it, its the only way i can see us finding out what's going on for sure

In order to find the truth about the cause of losses we would need to have the races monitored from the moment the strings are cut, it would need to be a plane or some unmanned aircraft that could get well above the lib site at, then follow the batch until tragedy strikes it. Unless we can categorically identify what causes the batches to split up we will NEVER be able to find an answer to our questions. I believe the military have these types of aircraft, do you's think they would do it free for services rendered during the wars??
