    Not Good Sign!

Any chance mice have been entering the loft or any chance mice have access to feeding store ?
  2. Never like putting rings on when they are to small for obvious reasons saves double checking, when i was younger used to visit my cousins loft as he was a fantastic distance flyer ,he would have large youngsters below the hens when the cocks were at 500 miles these youngsters were unrung and only serving a purpose ,I used to make sure i was at his loft the next morning after he had timed and would pick the colours i took a fancy to as the feathers were showing then after being shown what to do force the rings on myself and take them home to foster parents picked a lovely cheq wf one year its father had just scored from rennes the previous night 500 miles that was the end of the month of June ,it was trained the following year and only had a few races ,then as a two year old went to every club race and training toss, raced cheltenham 230 on the Saturday then was basketed for rennes 500 miles on the Tuesday night ,clocked it on the day of liberation flying fifteen and half hours on wing to be 2nd section 11th open gold cup 7500 birds it was not even paired up just flew to the perch (or me ) she flew well the following year but only three days before basketing for the gold cup the birds were out exercising they had just landed on the loft when they were frightened and took of as my late parents house sat next to the main London to Glasgow railway line the birds were just flying over the lines when they were hit by a London bound express killing six of them the white flight hen being one of them still remember trying to gather what was left of them ,so never give up trying to ring one you thought you had missed ,what might have been .

  16. First question regarding trapping , I have cages that fit onto the landing boards that the youngsters go out into during the day ,i have sliding windows with bob wires in the passageway these are put into closed position when i come home from work after putting all youngsters into cage i then fill feeding troughs and call them in ,then go outside with brush handle and cox them through the bob wires after a couple of nights they will be in before you get the chance to go outside ,then remove the cage at nights let them out and when called in as soon as the first go through the bobs the others follow like rockets any that do not do this immediately get no food for 24 hours , Second question regarding neighbours roofs ,i spent all my days in the country until i moved into the town ,the first year the youngsters would land on the house roof and then walk all over the neighbours roofs, had to get this sorted so they had two choices either fly or land on the loft roof ,so as soon as they landed on the house roof i would stone them or better still a tennis ball ,couple of nights problem solved any trained this way never landed on house roof again unless being attacked by peregrines . Must say the young and old birds trap really well on race days because on ETS they are never handled

    Peregrines

They were showing two peregrine chicks that had been rescued in the Birmingham area after the parents had been killed ,hand fed them until strong enough then took each of them to secret locations and put them in a nest with chicks of the same age ,were blaming egg collectors pigeon fanciers etc ,they said it would be interesting when the parents returned watching them on web cam feeding there new family ,what the did not show as usual ,they catch the adults prior to going near the nest by means of netting otherwise it would be to dangerous for them on the rock face being attacked by the parents ,SO SAME OLD STORY ONLY SHOW THE PUBLIC WHAT THEY WANT THE PUBLIC TO SEE

  23. Newton Aycliffe no good its at Darlington not near required distance ,Marlborough has been passed at an AGM of SNFC members,no point in anyone posting racepoints any changes would have to be made by theSNFC with the backing of its members if not why have a AGM
  24. Just been away taking the dog a walk ,went down to Wamphray where i was born all those years ago,Wamphray has not changed much in all those years still got the same woods and hedgerows that have been there for generations ,I walked for two and a half hours through the country lanes and woods also up the waters edge only met one person out walking there dog as i was walking through the woods it had an eerie silence also the country lanes for in all of the two and a half hours i did not see one small bird only a few crows in a field how the rspb can state the bird numbers are dropping because of change in farming methods beggars beyond belief ,when i grew up in the country we were greeted by the dawn chorus of so many small birds and it was really sad today that they have all been wiped out by raptors that are at saturation levels.
