  1. Your spot on andy newbury was a fantastic racepoint in open countryside omo but would love to see a centre point between glasgow and edinburgh taken and a line drawn from there right through the centre of london and keep the birds on this line right through france as near to suitable racepoints all the way ,good luck for 2011
  2. Andy when marlborough and portsmouth were addressed from the floor yesterday a lot of homework had went into them as being excellent race sites dont no about some of the other names that were being put forward i only voted for the ones that homework was done on
  3. Young Andy murray is the best we have got by far at present and a multi millionare to boot He is getting his fare share of success and like every dog he will have his day
  4. At the meeting the race point referred as used by the unc was rivenhall that lost out on the vote against Marlborough 44 against 39 ,sure you will find Marlborough is in wiltshire se of swindon and very near to our newbury racepoint we used to fly it would then have been direct on line for portsmouth which was defeated in favour of eastbourne by 49 votes to 42 ,hope this helps

Very dull today been a small dusting of snow overnight.
  6. Now i no you will laugh at this one i did when i was told A top pigeon fancier friend told me he purchased small rubber snakes from local bric a brac store and layed them where cats were entering his garden problem solved, now i have not seen this but another friend says he has done the same and it works for him .Food for thought and cheap I have not used this as there are plenty o snakes living round about me
  7. Thanks but think i will need more than luck, don't play darts regular now, good few years back me and my mate got beat in the semi of this tournament ,Andy Fordam (the viking) and a Scottish internationalist won it that night.
  8. Morning everyone ,frosty start here -5 lovely blue sky now and glorious sunshine not pairing birds up till mid march ,rest day today big darts tournament on here tonight 96 pair £400 first. Few with the lads
  9. Never had them attack in air either pigeons just circle round them ,but had pigeon struck on ground and had to kick it of ,but when pigeon tries to escape it will then fly after it and catch it at low level sometimes hundreds of yards away had to kick the same hawk of twice within minutes one night ,never was any good at penalty's
  10. Can spot them flying at a distance much longer tail than the sparrowhawk ,gamekeepers call them the flying fox ,they are lethal, wildlife friend of mine has identified a nest site approx one and half mile south of town he was complaining as they were killing the kestrel and owl which were among other remains that he found ,not had them take a bird in flight yet but would think they are more than capable ,they have been quite common down here for a number of years now
  11. LOT 6 £50 THANKS =Thanks >>>>>Ian
  12. Will post tonight how many big team men clocked from there entry again just the truth
  13. No trying to scare anyone just stating what was the truth ,members on here been asking for the facts of this race so it has been posted,it has been stated on this post that dutch and belguim birds are always going to be a problem with this racepoint ,if we cant lib on a friday do you think they will hold back 70,000 plus pigeons for our convoy of 1100 dont think so you then state race them on a sunday that would mean extra 48 hours in baskets if sunday bad weather no one at home to clock birds as we are at work ,first time this one has ever been mentioned (clashed with dutch birds) cant remember that one being mentioned at time if it was written in convoyers report would love to see copy posted,if no such paperwork then just another fairytale.

  16. £30 LOT 6 THANKS >>>>>>OY
  17. No disrespect to anyone in the north section as i have the utmost respect for the distance there birds have to fly ,but cannot get my head round the thought of liberating an entire convoy knowing that every pigeon would spend the first night out ,surely birds have to be liberated to give them a chance of homing on the shift or it then becomes a lottery jmho .
  18. And to you good luck for 2011
  19. Got the same reply from the lad i spoke to from southern Ireland i see first hand what effect a strike has in this area can only imagine what they face over 500 miles ,def need the wee man on your shoulder Anyway prefer a line that gets them over dry land asap.
  20. Since moving the birds to my present address ,which is fifteen miles north of the first drop in our club and thirty miles north of our first drop in the federation i set myself some goals ,first of all to win at club level then at federation level which i managed to achieve ,then to do well in the nationals and try and win the section not quite managed that one had a second and fourth so getting there, goal for this year to time a cracker on the night from the channel events ,feel i now have the bullets only need to fire them straight
  21. Would love to no which points on the french and English coastlines were the safest regarding peregrine populations if some one new the answer to that one ,that would be my recommended line of flight
  22. Payed a visit to the fancy pigeon show on Sunday morning ,first time in all the years i have went and was more than impressed don't mind admitting my ignorance of the different breeds ,fantastic and something i will now visit on a regular basis ,well done to all
