  12. Definitely got some class birds to work with this coming season ,tried roundabout last season and really enjoyed the experience ,made a mistake halfway through the season but have since had some very good advice from some of the top fanciers in my region looking forward to the coming season with optimism ,reverting back to natural ybs this season pairing stock up around mid march ,enjoyed the darkies for the last few years but with the way yb losses are don't think its worth it would like to concentrate more on the doos as yearlings upwards
  13. We have a new member who has recently moved into our area and by all accounts a top fancier ,he will be welcomed in at our agm with open arms ,it is then up to the rest of us to raise our standards if we are unable to beat the new member he then obviously has a better system and most definitely better birds, our club is spread over many many miles in all directions but that does not stop us all taking our share of the red card ,as someone once told me if your not winning just look in the mirror and ask yourself why .
  14. Dry and sunny here with blue sky so far ,but like the rest of the country freezing cold

  17. Hi steven ,I see the temp for the next few days with the wind chill is Baltic I am putting a house roof on tomorrow not through choice just got to be done Think same applies to the poor doos in this race don't think they will be to happy but like me no choice either
  18. Hi Walter ,i see from today's local paper that the applicant asked that the case be deferred until he new the legal conditions he would be allowed to operate under after an eleventh hour legal paper faxed by the buccleuch estates legal team ,one of the points were the guarantee of no outdoor training and possible chance of escape ,good to see the duke on board ,by the way i have been working not far from where they are being housed at present looks like a round silo storage tank with open top covered with green gauze mesh to a central apex hope we get two ton of snow
  19. Now steady Andy ,Heatwave no many of us can remember what yin of them are
  20. If it is the felt ,remove it on a dry sunny day and with the help of a friend do the following if you wish dry any damp patches on ply with light use of blowtorch apply with trowel or piece of wood a thin coat of cold tar which can be purchased in drums starting at say left hand side of roof apply enough from front to back the width of a roll of felt then lay pre-cut to length strips of green mineral felt on top of tar ,very important only nail on front and rear overhang no nails whatsoever on top tar will stick this main piece once that strip is complete do same with remaining strips allowing three inch overlap till you reach opposite end of loft this will take you a wee bit of time depending on size of loft and how many tea breaks you take but once complete will last twenty five to thirty years witnessed it myself, best of luck
  21. Hello Rab ,having not seen your loft and by what you are describing most certainly your roofing felt requires changing simple as that .
  22. Good luck with the new loft and many successful years racing into it
  23. If you felt a roof in strips from front to back ,apply cold tar/bitumen (can be bought in drums) onto ply of roof lay green mineral felt on top only nailing front and back no nails in top which has had tar applied ,this will last for twenty five thirty years with no leaks
  24. There lithe answer then we could get back to the good old days Only problem HOW
