kingziemckay Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 does anyone practice this??and what are your views on it? thanks atb
Delboy Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 The throat of the pigeon changes all the time depending on the degree of stress its under and I think you are best to judge it when the pigeons are through the moult, separated and resting. omo

Delboy Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 do you grade them on the throat?? atb It comes into my overall judgement of a pigeon along with balance, proportion, wing and intelligence. One thing I can definitely say is, any decent breeder or racer ive encountered, had a score of 8 to 10 in the throat when I looked at them at rest or in the winter period. Maybe another fad, but keeps us all interested.
Wiley Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 I am a big believer in the throat and have studied it for years now
kingziemckay Posted August 17, 2016 Author Report Posted August 17, 2016 it really is very interesting, and can be a great aid on helping you select,
William Reid Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 I know this will cause real controversy. Any pigeons that don't have a full curtain. Will always be removed from race team . For me this always indicates that internal damage has taken place. JMHO
Kyleakin Lofts Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 I know this will cause real controversy. Any pigeons that don't have a full curtain. Will always be removed from race team . For me this always indicates that internal damage has taken place. JMHO My understanding of this is that not having a full curtain indicates a canker attack, normally when in the nest. Very few are totally clear of this. The effect on the pigeon when racing would be like running for a bus on a freezing winter's morning. A definite drawback when racing, but I fail to see why it indicates internal damage. This is mostly thought of as the main internal organs. Could you expand your theory?
paddymac Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 I am a big believer in the throat and have studied it for years nowThe late Frank Tasker was a great believer in the throat theory, spoke of it many times at the Blackpool show.
Wiley Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 The late Frank Tasker was a great believer in the throat theory, spoke of it many times at the Blackpool show. Frank was the one who showed me on what to look for, but ill be honest it took a couple of years for me to say i was confident in what i was looking at.....Ronnie Bigwood also showed me

eastcoaster Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 Spoke to frank at his stall in Blackpool a few years ago and took the time to show me the birds he had for sale and graded them by their throat but also said there are exceptions to all rules and same in pigeons could be that using the theory the highest priced bird he had for sale had not the highest score but at least he was honest .
Wiley Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 Tell us what they told you Ryan It is not so easy to explain del over the internet, i find it better to show someone.... But if u need to know what to basically look for the original best of british with frank and geoff, in my opinion would explain it better then what the secrets of champion series did.
geordie1234 Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 I'd love to know how to score a throat I don't think it's something you can read
