IMO I think you will have to make sure they are happy with the outcome on what you are telling them to give you the licence, they wont be easy fooled over mind.

When did it come out you had to inform the police if you own an air gun, if it's so I better report mine

The Scottish government has announced that it will make microchipping compulsory for dogs, both Scotland and Wales are working towards introducing compulsory microchipping by April 2016, though the exact dates are not confirmed yet.

Scotland rule

 

You will need to apply for a licence after the legislation is passed and before the end of a lead-in period designed to allow everyone to be aware of the legislation. It had been the intention that the lead-in period would be as long as possible to make people aware of the new regulations. However, the lead-in period may not be that long. It could end on the 1st April 2016.

If the gun licence is expanded to include air guns then no one with a criminal record will have a gun. You will have to produce your licence to buy pellets. And you will also have to have a secure steel locker to keep it in.

For a permit when my firearm cert comes up for renewal .both my air guns are now gone

Some 25/30 years ago I purchased a Weihrauch Export air rifle and had it 're-sprung' by a local gunsmith. It was some tool !!

Anyhow, at the time, the gun shop gave me the serial numbers so I could send for my license. The application had to be accompanied by hand written permission to shoot on their property from 2 landowners. I also had to confirm the fact I had a gun cabinet, and when in the cabinet the weapon would have all removable parts removed. The quantity of pellets you could buy was limited and you had to bring your permit so the gunshop could record the purchase. I can't honestly remember the cost of the permit, but £25.00 comes to mind. The Police did carry out their checks from time to time to ensure all was well.
