The Strangs had a lot of big money winners around that time California Goldmine - £ 3500 in SNFC races :emoticon-0137-clapping: :emoticon-0137-clapping: and some of her offspring made a significant impact racing into the Dundee area.

They had 2 top performers last year in the Gold cup Brian, theyve always been to the fore in national racing :emoticon-0137-clapping:

Thanks,My daughter was only six months old ,my weekly wage was £28

The blue hen 1900 had scored the previous year at Rennes and again in 1980

All on the shift ,I only had enough money to pool her but you can imagine my delight at lifting 360 odd pounds

My cousin ben scott clocked 3 on the night he won 3 gold awards during those years the hen I clocked first that night was a late bred from Ben ,sure I also clocked another 3 very early next morning

The great Jack Wylie beat me that night but I can still remember those massive hands off his shaking my hand and saying someday son you will appreciate how good your pigeons were last night at the clock reading

Wonderful memories on a bloody cold night

Thanks Derek

Both hens came direct South at speed and low

The blue hen at 10-12 16 1/2 hours on wing nearly hit wires 100 yds from loft because of darkness she then sat on loft roof as it was dark inside I ran and got torch off my mother and she dropped onto landing where I picked her up ,I was drinking cup of tea my mother had brought up to keep me warm don't think the cup was ever found lol

Hope to experience it once again my friend but trying to keep hold of a good one is a bloody nightmare

A lot of fantastic pigeons on this result. You've just mentioned your own hen Mick scoring 3 times in the Gold Cup. Feenie's game hen, Strathclyde Lass going on to win her Gold Award in 1981. Newcombe Brothers 14th Open winner, Little Miss Muffet followed it up by winning Avranches the following year, when they did the 1, 2 , 3. No doubt several others went on to score at the highest level too. All dream pigeons :emoticon-0137-clapping:

festival live circuit eddie reckons it was his best ever and that's saying something coming out of that loft fantastic that's what fired my brother in law and myself when you saw those results and the names different class

I'm sure Eddie s Little miss Muffet was named because he singled it up from moffat

Back in those days when you got a performance pigeon you could gaurantee it would be there the following year it never entered your mind that you would lose it

If only we could turn the clock back

I still have that blood in the loft

When blue hen 1900 was 10 years old she bred a blue hen that topped fed for me ,when she was 10 yo I bred a blue wf cock I have pigeons bred from him when he was 16 lost him of loft when he was 18 yo

The sire side was from mc Ivor brothers famous Tinto goldmine

One flew well for a well known lanarkshire fancier and sadly went down from France this year
