philg50 Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 Anyone that's technically minded can you help ,do you think one of these things in the loft during these damp spell would help,as it been a long damp time of it and i cant get my doors open enough to get rid of smell and the feeling of dampness ,what do you think ,Screwfix £100 ,would it be a waste of money ?,wasted more on birds !!
Roland Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 Yep definitely help I believe. Could hire one for a day or two / or three etc. Any Tool Hire place. Not dear. When building my loft in the winter I was going to use one. But fortunately I had so much wood from old loft etc. that I was able- before roof be put on - that I had a fire in each compartment burning for a few days and dried it out a treat... but you obviously can't do that. Heaters! with pigeons out? wood. Good luck mate.
greenbar Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 we have a couple halogen heaters, in the coridors on most of the day, cheap as chips to run, and bone dry,
Guest bigda Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 Argoes has one for £43 looks good enough
Guest johnhunter Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 are we talking about show budgies here, or pigeons lol

philg50 Posted February 1, 2016 Author Report Posted February 1, 2016 rather than waste your money,i would find out why the loft is damp in the first place??ventalation etc,,?leaking maybe?? atbProblem is the loft is near house, dosn't get the sun until later in the year and its pretty well sheltered from wind to blow through it ,it serves its purpose well in dry weather but as you know weather here has been pathetic as of late .
Tony C Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 Have you tried a good layer of Easibed on the floor.

peter pandy Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 ATX Suisse GMBH Radiation Heater.. is the very best and safest equipment going and I have 1 in each section, They have 2 settings one for moisture control and the other for temperature control. Your loft will never be damp again and you will never have frozen drinkers. They now come double sided and will operate 2 sections when fitted into the partition. canny speak highly enough of them.
peter dempsey Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 where do you get these Peter Pandy and what is the cost to buy and also run
peter pandy Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 where do you get these Peter Pandy and what is the cost to buy and also run Frank Bristow....01529240548. Well the higher the temp the more it costs, roughly £1 daily. Over the year around £30.00

peter pandy Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 Only 30 days in your year lol£1 a day =£365SO SORRY to upset your applecart but it will not come on if the temp and humidity is above what you set it for SO £30.00 is roughly what mine come to yearly. For instance my temp is set at ZERO and humidity 75% when racing and Zero 90% in winter unless I feel it chilly and will up the Temp whilst in the loft. Simples

billt Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 Dehumidifiers would be unsuitable for lofts as they would be constantly drawing in outside air so would be a never ending circle, heaters as Peter recommends would be the way to go
THE FIFER Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 yes the electric ones would but the B&Q ones wont, or bowls of salt is also good, keep drying them out,
