Novice Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 In the 70s or 80 s they were just another national winner , and I was a hell of a lot younger surrounded by nat winners in East Lothian .I am not knocking these guys and certainly not their performances just trying to point out if the results are,nt out there you won't know much about them .I think they (initially George) started to fly well after the introduction of the Busschaerts about 1979. Following that and after a National win the distance birds were sold. At that time when I asked George why he was selling good distance pigeons he said he wanted pigeons which he could time every week not just on the odd occasion. Thereafter specialisation started concentrating on what they now do to perfection.

The Macs have blown the opposition out the water in the Lanarkshire fed, consistently for decades. By the way, these guys are pros at this game, there lies the secret to their success, dedication and hard work and obviously the right tools for the job. You could bring the likes of Tommy Blair and John McNeil into the equation as well, dedicated, professional, allround fanciers with records that are unbelievable and second to none.

JohnQuinn Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 Said it before and al say it again, the Mac's are the best doomen in Britain and probably Europe. Though they've most probably got the best doos as well it canny be proven, to establish the best sprint pigeons the birds would need to be given to a Top fancier to race to the same location. Don't mean wan or two doos, I mean 20 or 30 of each family entered all racing against each other and performances recorded. jmo.

I don't think that's a statement that can be justified by you, I or anyone John. There's no such thing as a best dooman in Scotland,Britain,Europe, the world, the universe etc. Far too many factors to consider in my opinion. That said-the Mac's are top doomen, without question the best inland fliers ever in Lanarkshire and their birds would make an impact in most lofts
