I would think they do. If you watch them, they occasionally pick up grain and test it in their beak whilst also tasting it with their tongue, according to Old Hand. He knew everything. :)

I'm told that pigeons don't have a sense of taste but I think they do. What does everyone else think?

They seem to love peanuts when they get the taste of them ;) :

They certainly choose what grains to eat first and as they don't chew it I presume it's not taste that attracts them

Birds do have a sense of taste, but it is not well refined, very few taste buds compared to us.

Put something in their water that they don't like,they'll shake their heads splashing the floor round the drinker and drink less.

not sure about taste but there sence of smell must be rotten they would prefer to drink rancid stagnant water that wreeks rather than fresh stuff .
