walterboswell59 Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 did things go to plan for you what have been your high and low points did you do what you set out to do for me with the old birds it was another great year for me winning7 1st clubs6 seconds6 thirds1 st yearling derby1 st section fed appleby1 st section 5th open clermont 1 st pigeon gold cup 34th sect snfc ypres13th 14th 18th sect snfc alencon 18 fed postions so lots to be happy about but still had my highs and lows you would think the high point for me would be winning the section in clermont national which of course im very happy to have won but in my mind it was no surprize as the birds i sent had already proved to me they could do clermont with ease so my expectations were very high but to win the section was fantastic but my high and low and the race i got the biggest thrill and lasting memory of was the the gold cup with the high and low all in the same race i wanted so much to prove to myself that i had the birds and the know how to prepare pigeons for this great race and i fancied a few of them but the wee hen called jenna that was 5th section 11th open clermont as a yearling last year was the apple of my eye but they were all in good order the low for me was hearing the birds were up as i had it in my head if we get a true race ill get one well we did not get a true race with only a handfull of great pigeons getting through the bad weather early on with very big gaps with hours between the birds my heart sank the best team of pigeons id ever sent to a gold cup john feenies words were ringing in my ears when he told me all those years ago the gold cup is the graveyard of champions loseing these birds was just to hard to contemplate for me it would set me back years i thought bang my wee 11th clermont hen hit the board turned her head and looked straight at me and paused as if to say whats up man im here told you i could do it lol as she dropped in the sputnic i jumped up punching the air ya f k n wee dancer i shouted the neighbours must have thought id cracked up i cared not a jot helen my wife came out to see what was going on i got her i said wee jennas home i went in to put it on the snfc web site when out the front window i could see a cheg pied cock with his wings shut droping like a stone for the loft i ran back outside just intime to see him drop in 2 in 10 mins i thought great just got back to the computer after giving them a wee pick when out the window which looks due south i saw a dark cheq cock diving for the loft three birds in a race like this in twenty minutes i thought someones taking the p s everyone must in but the pure relief i felt on finding out i was 13th 14th 18th section and winning a small fortune was out of this world for me as id done what id set out to do timing three good pigeons in the race dreams are made of well that was my high guys the feeling when that wee hen hit board when you know theres not many birds home and the look she gave me will live in my memory for ever her and the clermont section winner that was 18th sect alencon that day will i hope do the double for me next year alencon and clermont all being well and a lot of luck well apart from my youngbirds being sick and loseing some real good birds this year thats been my highs and lows please tell us what your highs and lows have been this season and feel free to be as longwinded as me lol i can still remember when i was on a high for a week because i got a 3rd or 4th club its all about what gave you a thrill as only pigeon racing can so dont be shy

andy Burgess Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 took me 10 minutes to read , but a great read , made me smile . . for me the birds took a back seat this season ,put no effort in waiting on my operation ,which was moved 3 times however was encouraged to send ,so i had something to see on a Saturday ,only to feel more dissapointed as results didnt happen as normal. not even well enough to carry a basket about ,had Mrs Burgess or club-mates to do it for me ,although thankfull, just made me feel even more useless.so "my low" for this season had to be the WHOLE of it start to finish .however , i did have 1 spectacular "high point" which i wont forget in a hurry .Mrs Burgess flew the youngbird team and whilst i was in hospital only a week after the op she visited Saturday night of the first youngbird race to tell me she won 1st ,2nd and 3rd club , also topping the fed .i was so happy for her as i laughed so much i almost fell apart at the seams good job the wires and stitches held up .
TREBLE D Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 one big high light topping section k in the nfc from the last national to many lows to list lol

JohnQuinn Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 Lowest point of the season was not getting a feather from the Alencon liberation, i refuse to call it a race. High point was finishing the Yb season with 21 of my 41 naturals and taking a ticket or 2 with them, and lifting a few quid from the club pools early on. (Ob's) EXTRA HIGH point was the gift bird from the Mac's this week, which if i handle properly i'm certain will produce the goods.

racing novice Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 Had a good first season only started with young birds, well i sent to a couple of the comeback races with o/bs just to get used to using the stb clock the club had lent me for the season but finished up with;2x1st club1x2nd club 1x3rd club1x4th club1x5th club1x6th club2x7th club1x1st combine 3021 birds1x48th combine 2355 birdsObviously the high light was my 1st combine, I was in the garden watching for the birds when my herman ceuster dropped over my house roof and onto the landing board looked up then went straight in, i shot through the door of the loft picked her up and took the rubber ring off and clocked her in and as i was coming out and closing the door a batch of around 50 pigeons flew over so i thought i could have a good one here, it wasnt until the next morning i knew how good when i got a phone call off the club sec telling me i had won the combine. That feeling will stay with me forever, cannot wait for next season to get going again. all the best everyone, Pete.
walterboswell59 Posted September 28, 2014 Author Report Posted September 28, 2014 well done to all these guys for sharing with us there will always be many lows in our sport but the one or two highs make it easyer to bare keep them coming lads let us share the moment with you good or bad
geordie1234 Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 High point making the fed result 2 weeks on the trott on the second week 1st 2nd section 20+plus yards infront of anyone else in the seccy Low point was not timing from Alencon... I never thought in a million years pigeons could make me so low...suppose i better get used to it
eastcoaster Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 Nearly all lows here ,tried widowhood for first time but it just never happened and lost a lot of good cocks and left with a lot of good hens with no experience also my good racing cock came at one race and was bang up there with fed winners but he just keeps flying around the house ( done same last 2 years ) so frustrating because he is a very good pigeon , sent what I thought was my best ever hen to Alencon gutted not to see her again , I was so sure ,Only plus side would be Maidstone 3 rd sect and another couple that would have been well in but for gettin pisseed waiting on them . Another plus joining Airdrie pigeon club I can honestly say you need to be almost topping the fed most weeks to win this club ,the quality of birds and fanciers I have never competed against before so I need to try a hell of a lot harder. Well done to all who had a good season and those like me that never let's give them hell next season .
scott mca Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 The Highs for me is being back racing after a couple of years out. Managed to pick up a couple of tickets in the club with young birds. Really looking forward to building up a team of birds in the next few years have got in some real quality birds and with alot of luck may do some good with them.

Well done to all who had a good season and those like me that never let's give them hell next season . That is the best type of club to be in. You may not win any races, but at least you are tested and stretched as a fancier. If you gain any position in the club you can be well up in the Fed.This lets us know when we have to lift our game. Much better than either moving to or forming another club as seems to have been past practice in a lot of places.
ALF Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 Low point has to be getting my yb loft burnt down by some low life b@stard i have to say that hurt me more than losing my mother and that says a lot about the way it affected me... Another low point was the ETS ring not working on 1 of my pigeons at 1 of the races i decided to send her as a trainer and she would have won the race by 15 mins and could have won the section of the fed that day aswell but on the plus side she was 10th region SNFC Buckingham 2 weeks later and won £954 pool and prize money so not all bad... And another high point is all the friends that bred me yb's this year after the fire i would like to thank every 1 of you brilliant gesture which i will always be grateful for Alan

Kyleakin Lofts Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 Loft going up this year George. Some alterations to plan sent to you, but give it two or three years and I should be attempting what I first intended.
blaz Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 the only low points of season for me both my fault not having enough thimbles for clock the maidstone snfc race so birds missing out on nat diplomas after doing the work .then at the ypres s.n.f.c. race i decide after saying 10 times i am not going to look on computer came in house to look.i told my mate and neighbour keith you see anything going to lofts gives a shout. 2 birds also got out 1 of the lofts and p1ssed of for a fly. so looking on computer and keith shouts a birds went in but i think it is 1 of the birds that got out,out i ran and clocked my 2 year old hen 1st fed 27th open ypres. then keith said it went in 2 or 3 min ago but i thought it was 1 of the birds that got out. yes i ran out house i was calm and not shouting and swaring and going of my nut.alot to be said for ETS. The highs got to be 1st 3 in fed open stratford as not done that before winning fed gold cup again for 4 longest races and watching the birds coming from the maidstone s.n.f.c race with my mate jim bell as each time i spoke about a bird i had at the race with in a few min or so i came out the sky and dropped on to loft. this is what i have learned come next year start talking about birds i have at race a bit earlier than i did this year. as for yb,s did not race them but was more than happy with the report i got for 1 fancier that got 2 kits from me.will keep it to myself just now but think i might train my birds a bit more next year
