Delboy Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Aye your right Frank, canny really split these memories though.Mind ye , one of my favourites away from the SNFC was winning the Sartilly combine race with a yearling, 15 half hours on the wing, what a buzz.I could hardly time the fker in with excitement

Would that have been the 1999 Nantes race ? If so that was the race were we had Westbound Junior going for his gold award, at that time he would have been the first gold award pigeon to have all positions from over 600 miles. Never seen him again which was very disappointing considering it was the kindest race that the SNFC has had from 600 miles.

What a doo Junior was Gareth, *expletive removed* losing him in a blow home was a nightmare .I know what its like losing a doo looking for its Gold, sole destroying m8.
JohnQuinn Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 In 2005 i was having the season of my life and was standing with Aldo waiting on the doos coming from Lille, everyone and their granny had told me i was Crazy not to pool this White Saddleback Ck, who had won Maidstone a fortnight earlier beating this Cheq Ck that i was convinced would win the Lille race. When the Cheq Ck hit the loft first i could have burst into tears and if Aldo wasn't there i probably would have, he won a full season's accumulator and all pools. I named that Ck "Told You So" because of the hype leading up to the race. He was the G/Sire to my 1st Section Ypres hen but that day he came far out done winning the Section for me because he confirmed my total belief in him.
yeboah Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Would have to say a grizzle yearling cock that won the yearling trophy in the club from sartilly after four weeks previous being witnessed walking the last field home to the loft unable to fly any further when homing a few days late from a very tough Cheltenham race Pure Guts and one that will stay with me till my dying day .

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Whats your best memories Gareth, you and yer auld man mustve had plenty. At the old location in blantyre it would have to be Westbound himself when he won 1st section 4th open Niort, took the day of work but realisticly thought that no doos would be timed til late afternoon, this due to the near galeforce west/north west wind, anyway when I timed him at 13.00 hours I knew he would win the section. The first 3 doos in the open were up the east coast. Westbound was bred in the purple being a son of the old grizzle hen. And at the same time he was a good breeder being the sire of Westbound Junior also 1st west section Niort. Up at the present location then being 1st & 2nd section Falaise 2005 is a special moment.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Thanks Derek once in a lifetime doos .Have to agree with you Robbie.
john cumming Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 winning my first race after starting pigeon racing way back in 1996, final race of the season young birds from northallerton 238 miles ish to us, I was 1st,2nd,3rd,4th and 6th, to say I was over the moon was the understatement of the year, can even mind the bird and the time, SU 96 NE 1386 blue pied cock john
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 ours would have to be this year when I watched our grizzle hen coming in to win our longest race from Saintes 540 miles after being 3rd then 2nd and finally first club this time second bird in fed and there was only about 400 birds away in the fed so not a big convoy plus we are the farthest north club so she did a lot on her own
