JohnQuinn Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Cost me around £800 to get my missus, myself kitted out for uncooked food poor presentation and a crap overnight stay. So as you'll gather I won't be back until it moves to another venue.

So as you'll gather I won't be back until it moves to another venue. Tell her from me that she has to keep out of Versace and start shopping in Primark. Haven't missed many presentations but that was one I couldn't make, so I'm suprised the food wasn't up to the normal high standard that they have. The venue in my opinion is first class, ideal for fanciers coming from all over Scotland for an overnight stay. Really looking forward to another class evening and a blether with some of the top fanciers from throughout Scotland.

The majority of the cost was me buying my outfit Rab, bought ma Kilt and all the regalia with it rather than hiring one. Mind you the overnight stay wisnae cheap and the bar staff wore masks when selling ye drink. Imo that whole night was a shamles and the vast Majority of the committee were like minded but the secretary said if the members wanted a change of venue it was ip to THEM to find one, I was as disgusted with that response as o was with the night itself.
Delboy Posted October 26, 2013 Author Report Posted October 26, 2013 You buy 2 tickets £60, you pay for a room £120 that's £180 before a drink is bought, you need £200 for drink, so we have £300-380 for a night out.Brilliant night out but not worth the money and ive won 1st west section twice this year, still not worth it.expletive remove, most pigeonmen aren't well off, we need a different venue for the presentation imo.

I know someone going tonight. £30 for a ticket, doesn't drink alcohol and coming home tonight so it doesn't have to be expensive.

peter pandy Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 I still have memories of prize presentations when they were an occasion for the wives to have a special night out in all their finery and for whatever reason we went from lovely surroundings to working mens clubs and attendances dropped off. When I was Fed Sec I decided to go back to up market venues and found that previously where it had been difficult to sell 40 tickets we shifted 90 and even organised pre racing dinners which were a huge success with a guest speaker. The S.N.F.C. presentation night is the most prestigious evening in the pigeon calendar and should be an experience not to be missed.
Delboy Posted October 26, 2013 Author Report Posted October 26, 2013 I agree Peter, an honour to be part of, I wish I could've been there tonight.
Big Davie Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 I've been to a few SNFC presentations and in general they've been good nights, I know you get ripped off at the bar but its a one off and you expect that in a hotel, however the last one I was at a couple of years back the presentation lasted for about 5 hours and the band played its first song at quarter to midnight just as we were leaving the hall, talk about the women getting a good night out, well the ladies at our table were all scunnered and never even got a dance, also listened to a lot of women outside smoking moaning along the same lines and saying they wouldn't be back, got to say I was fed up listening to it myself and I'm a doo man, heard they've sorted that out but don't know for sure
