I have the 2 best doos in my ducker away to it a hen that I sent to Alencon last year on the roundabout got her dinner time second day just missed out on a ticket . Also sent the best doo I have ever had she won the section fae Clermount 603 mile last year and she is bouncing . Cross the fingers and toes time now and hope or a good race and may the best doo win CANNA WAIT

Rab if there were a north sec thats where my birds would go i was speaking ta jim donaldson about it and he said the same would send nice ta ha a clock station at peterhead i think there would be a good few gan bring it on time ta pick where you want ta send ta get them on the day of lib or have a chance to time , hope you get a geed en , i know fer a fact there will be neen up here fleen 650miles

Is Ypres the easy Option - Yes

But one thing good about Ypres is the fact that because its shorter, there is a good chance for the majority to time on the day of liberation, this can only give them a feel good factor about channel racing that will encourage more club fanciers to compete in the other channel races over 500 miles. I would say that Ypres should be moved from the present date, to the start/middle of June, this would mean that fanciers can get 2 chances to send there pigeons to 2 channel races. JMO

 

 

Totally agree in the sense that Ypres is a good racepoint, usually with high returns and would be ABSOLUTE FOLLY to get rid of... Maybe moving the GC or Longest Race back behind Ypres or scrapping Newbury and moving Eastbourne / Maidstone into that slot and Ypres into the current 2nd inland slot. Whats memebrs opinions on the following:

 

Question 1: Why would you scrap a perfectly good shorter channel race?

 

Question 2: Don't a lot of people send their yearlings/inexperienced channel birds to Ypres and isn't it a great race for doing just that? If you don't have Ypres then the following year or two years gold cup/Longest race send would suffer....

Don't know what national the bird is from but came racing from the south over the top of me followed it with binoculars as far north as possible dead on line for Lanarkshire and racing well looked like a darkish cheq defo a racing bird eight twenty five
