alec guinness Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 Still no second day returns for me. Now they can stay away!!! Not good enoughNot the case m8,wee story here, after I checked my loft book Newbury 2009 cold east wind late lib and timed 7.30ish to be 152nd open timing a 7 year old hen, sent 10 birds she was the only bird we got that night, next morning first home 6am blue cock,he would go on to win 4xsnfc diplomas and a silver award, next home 11am blue hen who would go on to win 2x SNFC diplomas, the plot thickens 5 days pass and a cheq cock turns up he then went on to score in 3x SNFC races out to 630 miles, another 5 days pass and a blue bar hen turns up who would then go on to win 4x SNFC open positions out to 550 miles, all of the above 4 birds had never scored at a national before but would go on to win 13 SNFC diplomas between them, moral of the wee tale geo is your future champ could still be working his/ her way home, hope I have not been boring you but have been at this national game a long time and think and hope I can pass on a bit of hope with the above, hoody.

eastcoaster Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 Thats me got 3/3 all been hit or have hit something what is the odds of that EH.I had a B/Q for the step daughter 21st over 70 people here when my first doo came . i had many coments of how do they find their way to newbury and how do theyknow when to turn around and come back lol and not one person knew about how bad our sport has been devistated by the bops it took my good lady to tell them about us putting 16 stiches in a wee hen who has won a race this year , and the kids loved every thing about the birds from how they get home to the cute hatchlings that turn ugly then turn into beautiful adult birds a bit like kids really .the point being is nobody knows about our plight and i don`t think they really care .

This story makes interesting reading,as in a previous post there were different views regarding birds that fail to return home.....no one can be really sure what happens to birds that fail to home....but birds that work out where things went wrong and worked away untill they reached home no matter how long learn something, that something stands them in good stead for the rest of their racing life or untill something happens that you never find out they just fail to return,........
