Always hearing fanciers saying they have too many doos etc me prob one of them

My question is how many old birds including yearlings do you think you have to have to compete in a normal fed programme? Ofcoarse it will vary with what system you fly amd quality of pigeons???

10 pair of racers usualy but this year iv been greedy and got 12 il be mob flying lol n half a dozen latebreds that have been trained right out i dont have room for any more birds but they do ok in the club against alot bigger teams i think with a wee team and limited space you have to be critical of every bird in the loft theres no room for passengers like in bigger set ups

I have cut back drastically this year, I have 6 widowhood cocks and 14 natural birds to race this year, and I am looking forward to the season, I find having a team of this size, very enjoyable and manageable. In season past, I have had big teams to race, but personally, found looking after them to be more of a chore, than an enjoyment.JMHO

have far too many here (more than i ever had before) ,it has become a chore at times .i have 28 old birds to race this season ,apart from a pair of 3 year old ,2 x 2 yr old hens and 4 x 2 yr old cocks ,the rest are yearlings :animatedpigeons:

After doctor told me to get rid of birds last year, I decided to cut down instead. I have 12 widowhood cocks and 6 hens to fly spare. If this is not enough im not bothered just glad to still have some. Its amazing how much easier and more enjoyable it is now.

it dosent mater how many you keep big or smal if you want to win club or fed averges you need caneing foder doos that win one week and lose the next so if you have a smal team the % goes down only at the big races whare quelty counts so get your head out the clouds about having 12 pair of winers in your loft not unles your only flyijng against 200 doos a week and 500 in your fed daftys

12 pairs for me,I only race inland but we have 19 races including the midweek programme. The cocks go at the w/e and I tend to send the hens m/w.

18 pair on roundabout 35 yearlings 1 old cock then 8 pair of 2 to 5 year olds to home from the nfc races the most we have had for years fingers crossed.

20 pair on the roundabout and normally compete each week from 40 miles to approx 370 and with any luck hopefully looking to go across the water with a few
