Just spoke with my club sec to order our rings and will be about the first week in Jan thats the normal

8th or 10th that way at least the young bird was hatched in the year it was rung.

 

 

i totally agree in my opinion rings should not be given out until the year the bird is hatched,also why should the unions all have different dates make one date for every one , podgy

IHU supposably been out two weeks, RPRA usually 23 december

I wonder who makes the decision to release rings early and what criteria do they use to choose the date, personally I cannot see any advantage with early youngsters, by the time racing comes around they are sitting around like old birds and need a lot of basket work, the April/May youngsters are still flying and ranging for a couple of hours, no contest as far as I'm concerned

maybe they train with old birds?

What is the point of having the year on the ring, if rings are being available in November of the previous year? these rings can be allocated to birds bred the year before, and not within the year stated on the ring, I think personally, rings should not be available before January 10th.JMOhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0138-thinking.gif

does the rpra send out forms for ring orders?i got my npa form on monday but rings will not be sent until january.i agree rings should not be issued before the stated year on the ring.

no they dont send them out but put in the books about september time, usually I just phone them
