Blue Chequer Pied Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 Hi all, Can you please let me know how much your club/fed charges for birdage. We pay 35p per bird for races up to and around 300 miles, after that we pay 50/60p for the 3 longest OB races 330-500miles. All YB races are charged at 35p. I would be interested to see what other people are paying as our fed have always tried to keep costs to a minimum ( bearing in mind we have around a 160 mile round trip just to pick up from all the clubs taking 7-8 hours) Thanks, Paul.

Guest stb- Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 aye that includes arniston, 43 miles... 50p per bird! seems quite exspencive esp if you send a big team to these short races 60 birds £30 100 £50 seems a lot for 43 miles especially when most clubs have no prize money nowadays and some your lucky to even get a result so steep for a trainer really imo
andy Burgess Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 we pay .30p a bird young and old ,only changes for open or nationals. happy enough with that.

MIK Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 50p/bird to send with the club and fed for all inland and Channel races. NIPA Championship/ Derbies is £3.00/per bird for sect/open prize money on inland and channel. Races from france are £5/bird. atbMick
Guest Owen Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 I hear a lot of people talking about distance races which are expensive to run. I am just in the middle of doing the final accounts for the year and there are some interesting facts coming out of the figures. The Club Members have not supported distance racing. Bordeaux was supported by just 3 people. Saintes by 4. The picture with the YBs was even worse. People not only did not support the distance races but stopped flying well before the season ended.I reckon that the Federation should stop flying distance races in favour of flying inland. If people want to fly over the channel they should go with the specialist organisations and pay the going rate.At the moment the inland races are subsidising the long races which can not be right. Perhaps it is time to use the extra money that would be available to improve the prize money for the sprint people.Just an observation based of the evidence in front of me.
REDCHEQHEN Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 65p for federation races Combine races inland vary from £1.00 to £1.75 Channel (combine) races from £1.00 to £3.50 to send The combine races include prize money (but its not a fixed rate it depends on number of birds sent) These prices will increase for next year as the 65p does not cover costs !
shugf2003 Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 My last club all members paid £1 per week all year no matter your team size saying that it was ten years ago it did cover your birdage for the season
geordie1234 Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 My last club all members paid £1 per week all year no matter your team size saying that it was ten years ago it did cover your birdage for the seasonquid per week only ten years ago? no wonder the sport is dying ye can't even send a pigeon for that including basket and clock fees
Pompey Mick Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 We pay pro-rata in the Solent fed & Southampton & Dist NR Fed and prices are dramatically rising.The Ferry Cost is a major factor in our races as after the first two pipe-openers all our Old Bird races in the Solent Fed are across the Channel. Here are our charges for the Solent Fed. Honiton I - 14th April 2012 154, £0.77 Honiton II - 21st April 2012 198, £0.55 Carentan I - 28th April 2012 97,£1.05 Carentan II - 5th May 2012 159, £0.95 Fougeres I - 12th May 2012 W/C 110, £1.30 Carentan III - 19th May 2012 240, £0.67 Messac I - 26th May 2012 W/C 121, £1.30 Messac II - 2nd June 2012 107, £1.30 Tours - 9th June 2012 W/C Jubliee 58, £1.95 Fougeres II - 16th June 2012 129, £1.80 Saintes - 23rd June 2012 W/C 77, £2.50 Fougeres III - 30th June 2012 83, £1.45 Bergerac - 6th July 2012 W/C 66, £5.00 Kingsdown I - 28th July 2012 175, £0.70 Kingsdown II - 4th August 2012 150, £0.52 Newton Abbot I - 11th August 2012 136, £0.55 Newton Abbot II - 18th August 2012 94, £0.70 Yelverton I - 25th August 2012 82, £0.95 Yelverton II - 1st September 2012 W/C 43, £0.99 Kingsdown III - 8th September 2012 87, £0.72 Truro - 15th September 2012 42, £1.60 The Southampton & Dist NR Fed is a smaller Federation but has no ferry charges and charges range from 0.45 for Windrush 75ml to £3.85 for Hexham 300 ml (The birdage for this race reflected the poor races we had encountered during the season with high losses) As you can see Club Racing across the Channel is becoming more & more expensive with each increase in prices signalling an exodus to the Nationals & Classics in this area of the South Coast, we are in a downward spiral especially Bergerac which has committed financial suicide this year.
buster151 Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 1Pound per bird even trainers all races, plus 1 pound for clocks
