Andy the Gers are not much better. What a night for Scottish Football

Considering Celtic, Rangers and Hearts were suppose to be the best of Scottish football, and represent us in Europe, I THINK SCOTTISH FOOTBALL IS DEADhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/crying.gifhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/crying.gifhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/crying.gif

I watched the Celtic game, and they were shocking, and certainly did not deserve to win.

This is the first time since 1956 that a Scottish team have not reached the group stages of the European competitionhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0138-thinking.gifhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0138-thinking.gifhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0138-thinking.gif

you obviously don't read all the threads, i personally said celtic were very very poor, on a terrible night for scottish football hearts were far and away the best of the three teams from north of the border, i know redknapp rested a lot of his players but the jambos can come out of the second leg with their heads held high unlike their overpaid counterparts from glasgow.

So what's the way forward for Scottish football?

Im not sure but if you go back a few years you would see good SCOTTISH players playing for the likes of Man u liverpool forrest villa leeds spurs etc the list goes on there would be a handfull in each team but now your lucky if you find ONE in a team and a handfull in the premier league. Sad Times I Think

These results come as no big surprise.Players from all round the world, who can either retire, or move to Scotland.Time to give local boys a chance reduce to a tenner a game,be brautal for a while but in time we can get better.Given the financial stateof scotish football they have little option

Only bigotory keeping it going (Last legs)

First time since 1955 a scottist side isnae in a european contest.

Does that reflect on the difference in class? :emoticon-0138-thinking::emoticon-0138-thinking:

Still a great nation of great idividualist players.

Mind Jock Stien in 1967 put together a side all born within 20 miles (Glasgow to boot at that of course)... Maybe it was that they could understand each other, tolerate each other and hence played a great game! Yep and won the whole cabbash with the European cup to boot. Was a great side too........

Maybe there is a 'lanquange'lack of understanding lol. :emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl:

said this on another thread yesterday and i think its the only way forward :emoticon-0138-thinking:

i think a serious look has to go into football into this side of the world and we need to start with 10 and 12 year olds and teach them to play the ball on the ground and maybe even not make it so important to win as once as they play the right brand of football until that happens i really cant see where the improvement is going to come from

Believe it, believe it not, Leicester was for years - untill recently - the biggest pool for producing First Devision / Premier players.

Was the fore runners, and indeed the only one for many years that had 'Youth Leagues' etc. for the 12 year olds upwards.

We started on in 1980 / 81 season, and within two seasons we produce some devision players.

Academy's are fine too, but need the lads out competing and learning SELF control and 'Reading' the game. Understanding at an early age, is also very important. JMO

control and quick pass when we show the kids that over and over then we will get better

the problem is mate when mangers of young teams need to win to keep there jobs until managers this changes then we all are in big trouble

Scottish footbal was on a downward slope after the introduction of 4 leagues making it a financial catastrophy if a team was relegated.

When there was just two leagues, teams would blood youngsters in games against weaker opposition. This no longer happens with the consequences that youngsters are not developed into the learning curve. I doubt we will ever see the dalgliesh's and Mcoist's coming through the ranks again.

Only idiots would put themselves and results in front of the proper duties of a youth coach!!! Technique will always tell? Big rough boys are great at 14/15 but seldom turn out to be yer best players at 18/19!

Very sure that most clubs are lookin at individuals and not whole teams JAM! You are right that some coaches do feel pressure for results and some parents do make life VERY difficult at some stages :emoticon-0179-headbang:

Part of the problem with not producing players starts at youth level where boys at 10 11 12 are lambasted for making a wrong pass or no going in hard enough or running fast enough and especially for trying something fancy that disnae quite come off, you name it they get slaughtered as if they were already pro's.

The result of this is the boys rap it because they are sick being shouted at or their confidence is destroyed to the extent they can't play freely. I've said for years that the "coaches" who are supposed to be developing the kids knock the flair and imagination out of them before they even get to 18 or 19. jmo

Harry Redknapp during the press conference before the second leg against hearts had a wee cheap laugh at Scottish football stating that perhaps our under developed footballers needed to be taking some porridge ,did his sorry so called footballers no get humped of the park by man city WHAT GOES ROUND COMES ROUND ,those who laugh the least laugh the longest ,by the way he could get a part in spitting image .

Read Elvis Pressley's { Falkirk manager } remarks and observations in to-days press and he has reiterated what I forwarded earlier.

I think if the big two had wage caps this would also benefit home grown talent.
