Roland Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 Have 8, and hope to get another round. Make 20. Will leave hanging around open hole with odd chuck. See how they shape and what promise they show next season as to wether just a couple of 100 -150 races, and take it from there.

Too many spout that late breds mean 'Heavy losses' and are worst than early bred. That of course is a myth. They bred umpteen youngster to combat the high losses from their first two rounds nigh Every year!

Hope to give them some training and race to about 200 miles next year.LATE BREDS ARE THE FUTURE!! 12 from your best racers, itake it you mean the birds that have completed the old bird races.i have a lot of faith, and have WON VERY WELL with latebreds.my advice for what it is worth is.do NOT!!train them this year, just leave them to MATURE,and i think you will find this a worthwhile exercise.or,try training 6 of your 12,and leave the other 6 to mature with no training.put the ones that are left on the road next year, and see which ones do best, even if you only get one good one out of your 12,then you have won a watch, after all look at it this way,if you breed a team of 60 naturals, question,WILL YOU GET 5 GOOD ONES LEFT OUT OF THEM?!!CHEERS,AND ALL THE BEST WEE BILLY K.

john cumming Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 i get the feeling the majority will be taking some later bred birds to compensate for the heavy losses that many are having john
Guest KING BILLY Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 I don,t particularly hold much faith for late breds, how ever, with the heavy losses of youngsters at this early stage of the season, I was wondering, if any members were breeding late breds to compensate for their losses in order to have yearling for next year? If so, will you be training them through the winter months, and race them as yearlings? has anyone had much success with latebreds in the past? THANK YOUif you breed them now and treet them like darkness young birds in an end of thare own you could have a team of darkness late breeds to start next seson and fly them out to 300ml thay would be 7 month old darknes young birds and toss them all winter
