could any of the midland fed members,please answer me honestly,how your returns have been this season down the west.as all i have heard from former midland west coast boys is how bad the losses were and now they are with the lanarkshire,they have to cull birds as they have too many at the end of the season

I can safely say that the losses wer just as bad doon the east as they wer doon the west! No a Midland member obviously but the same route

Your only partly on the same route Steven, the damage is mostly done from the Solway up.

If they have too many birds at the end of season 2011 then they have not raced the program.

Fair comment, Moffat hills are no the best!

 

We took the cumbrian hills oot of the equation this year and losses are still high but the worst race for me was Marlborough!!!!

Who knows wot next year will bring route wise and it will be even tougher for me as My two yr olds and yearlins are wiped oot

Well this was my first season in the west and i`m in greengairs with the midland fed , i flew mostly late bred yearlings ,i started with 26 have 10 left after 6 races , had to kill 2 (hawked) so lost 14 , off the ten i have left 6 never seen a basket as yb`s and had 2 tosses only this year ! on the other hand my brother has 4 old birds left out of 20 +and he fly`s in the east of scotland, So my opinion is there is no diferance what route you fly you going to suffer.jmo

Would agree no such thing now as a good route,my losses down the east route this year were horrendous started with 32 all raced ended with six lost all the best one's,mind you the weather has been crap with the severe east and NE winds ,lucky the guy who had to cull because he was left with to many wonder how many nationals they flew

i fly with coatbridge s.c and the people i am talking about are christie bros and at the end of last year they had to kull birds because they had too many left,this was the first time in years because they flew midland.they are good flyers and yes they fly national

tom corry is the man to ask on here robin he flew it for years

this year down the east was not the best, to judge it , last year there was better returns for young birds but most of them now yearlings are gone, this . so if we have a bad young bird program

hell knows they will try the west or centre again me thinks

I personally don't wish to get caught up in the politics of East or West , personally i have never experienced YB losses as we have had the last few years flying in the Lanarkshire down the East route and previously with the Midland down the traditional route.

I will go with the majority vote of the Lanarkshire federation meeting.

So far this season started with 14 old bird racers racing to Eastbourne 9 left , of which 6 have returned with injuries .

Lanarkshire on the whole had a good season regarding returns.

midland fed seem to have done okay cant be any worse than done the east with young birds as practicaly every year we can start with around 2000 birds by the time we get to the last race usually down to about 400 so have to give it a go

THE ONLY THING FROM OUR POINT OF VEIW RE GOING WEST IS THAT FAE THE SOLWAY TAE HERE IS POLLUTED WI PERCY AND I MEAN POLLUTED ME AND THE MRS WENT A RUN DOWN TO DRUMLANRIG CASTLE IN DUMFRIES A FEW WEEKS AGO AND I NEVER REALISED THERE WERE THAT MANY OF THE *expletive removed* ABOOT :( :( :( :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

You are 100% correct no clashing but still wouldn't send the wife to SEDBURGH once you get to lymm you will get good races its sedbergh -leyland that clean us out .

is that going over the shap mick and into lancaster hills at side of lake dist ??? was always dodgy racing from lancaster etc for us with percie
