sapper756 Posted April 29, 2011 Author Report Posted April 29, 2011 Quite a few posts lately have been commenting on the fore casted East winds for this week end. What are the members views/experiences/thoughts on East winds, and does an East wind have an effect on the number birds you send to a race? I have read qoutes such as; "I won,t be sending any" "I will only be sending a few" "I won,t send my chanel birds" which bids the question, WHY? thank you Will be interesting to hear folks opinions and experiences, after tomorrows raceshttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0126-nerd.gif
kirky Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 mine are staying at home, only 28 miles further next week.
Roland Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 Snap Kirky. Same lib South Rd. and a come back race on the North. Was toying with the idea, and handling the birds this afternoon - like everyone else I want them to be racing and going - then saw the trees bending a mite and cold gusts... thought it will be a darn site worse tomorrow, so they are staying put. Misses says to me 'Weer we have to go out in all weather, come rain or shine, snow and what not'! I said 'Agree most do ... you don't, but many do ...' then added 'Then we hear the moans and groans and whinges because you have the sniffles or colds, or flu and curse going out'! lol. Now having just reread this post I think 'Whatever processed me to even consider sending in the first place.... I'd be better of buying a pkt of Kellogs and cutting me own cards out, with the money I have saved by not sending lol
Guest BRYANBROCK Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 well my whole team will be going 24 hens 23 cocks on saturday, regardless of weather, thats why we put trust in our race controller and convoyer, and we are lucky to have two good lads davie hay and davie barrie in that roles john Aberdeen Fed want to swap our race controller for yours
JohnQuinn Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 (edited) i don't like East winds, ma Da before me didnae like them either. For that reason i only sent 13 instead of 45ish, i'd rather jump them into 100mls next week when hopefully the wind will have changed. Edited April 29, 2011 by JohnQuinn

Lots sayin at the club that it was a waste of time/money as birds have no time on wing but I think they might have learned a lot especially the later ones?

Lots sayin at the club that it was a waste of time/money as birds have no time on wing but I think they might have learned a lot especially the later ones? The doos would have had more time on the wing and a night less in the basket if I took them to Glasgow this afternoon Its always nice to have a race though, even it was quicker than the last two weeks from Coldstream which is 20 miles closer to home Can't complain too much really-smashing returns and the doos were back out a couple of hours later as if it was a normal day
