Guest Gareth Rankin Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 garath why is lanarksire only going as far as thirsk ? Peter its down to Wetherby last year were for whatever reason the fanciers were wiped out, though in years gone by this has always been traditionally the distance of our furthest young bird race. Was quite surprised at the race program meeting that we got a race as far as this in 2010. Personally i would love to have a young bird race at 200 miles but racing at this time of the year the young birds have too many obstacles, inc wind, clashing, bop, and the terrain that these young birds have to endure from a 200 mile race, though i can understand the fanciers in your own area wishing for this kind of distance as the terrain is a great deal kinder than the route that the pigeons fly into the Lanarkshire would have to take. All the bestGareth
Tony C Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 West Essex Fed at Retford 130 mile, if training goes well tomorrow I'll be sending 39
Guest big slim Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Pentland Fed at Wetherby. Hope to send about 25 but havent seen weather forecast.
tyson Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 dont think there will be many at the young bird nat this year with all the losses that have been happening this year and feds not going to far with young birds my own opinion I dont think young birds need to be flown out to 200+mls jmo
