Guest Blaydon Racer Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Sorry to hear of your poor returns from Saturdays races -- at about 11_25am on Saturday there were some very large batches of ybs heading north going over Blaydon and Greenside ( about 5 miles N East of Consett ) -must have been Scottish birds as the UNC didn't race until Sunday ) --at the same time our ybs were arriving home from Thoresby hall --I had 2 ybs peel out of one these batches going over --the weather here at the time was fine but it did start pouring of rain about an hour later .Don't know what the returns were like from this liberation but there was nothing wrong with the weather here at the time.

big blue bar Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 i fly in angus fed and our birds were liberated on sunday by the sounds of all the posts on here . maybe just as well cause we only droped one out of 17 best returnes we have had this season , maybe there is alot of clashing going on ? don t know if there were alot of birds heldover but we certainly had a good race
Ian McKay Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Been posting all week the best decision made on Saturday Congratulate your controller on a brilliant decision
Guest Davy Fleming Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 There was Very low and thick cloud covering the hills down the East Coast around the Galashields / Coldstream area plus some heavy rain at times and the birds never got a chance until the middle of the afternoon on Saturday where Sunday was a perfect day and a lot of blue sky along with as near 100% . FACT
JohnQuinn Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Perhaps the criteria for having a hold over needs to be looked at. Its all very well waiting for a break in the weather to have a race on a Saturday but if the Sunday is CLEARLY IDENTIFIED as being a better day for racing then the birds should be held. I'm as bad as the next man when it comes to total boredom because of no Saturday racing, but i would get used to it quicker if i knew i was getting better racing on the Sunday.
Ian McKay Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 I agree with that idea we spend a fortune on our birds waiting for a break is NOT good enough
walterbmasson Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 I agree with that idea we spend a fortune on our birds waiting for a break is NOT good enough race controller next year IAN MCKAY
Ian McKay Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Do you not think I do enough Walter by the way answer your PMs :D
Bluedoo Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Another one back from St Boswell. Very thin but sure he's learned a lot this week.
square_peg Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 fife libbed at 11am at kelso we got hammered. i tossed 8 latebreads at 6pm on sat 30ml toss and got a great toss, late afternoon and sunday was far better for the doo's.......but NOBODY will be fighting to take on the controllers jobs!
Bluedoo Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Yes agree nobody wants the job. North of Scotland waited till later and had very good returns by the sound of things. Sometimes think everyone is in too big a hurry to get birds up as early as poss. especially in these short races.
