Totally agree Tam, too many sales now and top pigeon people getting embarrassed at what their birds make. This was very evident at the SNFC spring sale last year where many top pigeons hardly got a bid. The SNFC should have one sale a year only .

Tam dont you think at this time of the year fanciers have plenty ybs of there own in the nest,so might not be willing to pay heavy prices also this time of the year your feeding bill usually doubles with the ybs training etc so folk might no have as much sheckles in there pouch to buy the ybs.

Spot on Jim,

the only sales that get a reasonable attendance at this time of the year are Breeder Buyers, have the LSC this Wedensday night were all the money is paid out after the expenses for the refreshments and food is paid.

A dont think the money is there, no jobs no cash for some, and also the feeding bill has went up in the last couple owe years big time, its getting worse every year, so sales could be a thing owe the past in the next couple owe years. JMO

The reality is that if you bred 50 ybs and donate one bird to a charity sale at this time of the year your likely to leave the best in your loft, its just human nature, probaly a little different when you fulfilled your breeding requirements, thats why i think its better to have these ybs sales in May or the end of April.

Tam yer right , i had a charity sale last year with birds donated from some of scotlands finest lofts and the money they made was unbelievable, you could not breed them for some of the prices they were making , after all the time and effort and help from some good fanciers on here i had to ask myself if it was worth it :)

No more sales in the next couple owe years,  :-/

You pit yer best in to a sale and it makes £10-£15, the money isnt there anymore than it was 2-3 years ago.  :)

i think £25-£40 is a very realistic price to pay for a youngster which i think the donor would rather you raced and let him know how the bird had flown, money is certainly a bit tighter and is a big factor, other points too many sales and are they all for the proper reasons?? :-/ i put my 6th youngster into a sale today and still have a few more sales,my biggest gripe is having to find out by word of mouth who bought your bird :-/a wee note from the organisers would goes a long way. :-/ :-/ :-/
