Just replied on another thread, as to where I got my first pigeons:

 

John Crowder, 4 Buschaerts and 2 Vandeveldes.

 

So where did forum members get their first birds, and what were they?

How did they do for you Sapper?

 

One  of the Vandies done well, but I can,t blame the doos as I was only learning :-/  but remember being over the moon with them, lost 2 training, and when I told John Crowder, he said that I should have used them to breed a team :-/ never mind, I am a bit older and wiser now :P (no comments necessary) :P

Well my 2 uncles and my cousin had pigeons so they were always there from i was a kid.I went into partnership with 1 of my uncles and after he died i was on my own with them ??)

got my first racing pigeons from jimmy bell . 6 staff van reets won my first race i entered with one of them .he also won alot more races and won me the £1 nom in club evry week yb the the same as a yearling .most consistent bird i have had.

my father turned up with a pair of fantails when i was four for my birthday

an Ayrshire stray and a fantail hen in 1970 . The fantail hen landed on my canary aviary

 

so i built a box outside for it,  it was later joined by a blue ayrshire cock , both flew open bowl and reared a few young uns ;D ;D

Parents and grandparents had pigeons but my first own bird bird was from a guy in the next village, I was then given a bird by Bill Love, then some through a friend of my grandfathers from Vic Robinson and W Steele.

Those were the days!

black pied cock & cheq hen nest mates bought them as ybs from a local fancier, that was 49 years ago, thay cost  2 shillings & sixpence & 1 stone of corn cost the same

my firts racers were some strays from d& d coull from the gourdon & dist club was only 10 at the time so did nt now anything about racing had kept tumblers from the age of 4 with my dad also remember catching a blue ch pied squecker at the farm where we stayed can t remember his number but it was the chrome su rings thought he was a cracker.never new it would last & would nt change a thing and i m nearly 40 now
