  5. Funny how when the s h i t gets thrown sometimes it sticks to the wrong person so first point delt with Second no pay no race next week ---sorted plain talking from sec no work no birds on if every club had members that would no race due to new member they deserve to walk.
  6. Tell us more please---are you in the boundaries? ___are you a bad lad ,you have to be in some clubs and worst of all have you WON RACES with doos before. 10 out of 10 is final
  7. The problem is that there is no antibiotic that is 100% effective. Treatment of salmonella infections should be based on laboratory tests so that the appropriate antibiotic can be administered. You collect some droppings samples from the birds for several days and send them to a laboratory where, after a bacteriologic culture and an antibiogram, the right antibiotic will be prescribed. Make sure the pigeons didn’t receive antibiotics before the test for several weeks…or the test might be useless. Treating the birds only for 4-5 days is pointless and stupid. Such a short cure will not cure Salmonella. It might just lower the symptoms and eventually put the bird in a carrier state (which is worse!). Enrofloxacin / Baytril is usually prescribed for treating Salmonella, but only the lab test will confirm what exactly you need for your pigeons. A treatment with thrimetoprim (1 gr / 4 liters of water) takes a long time… if the weather is cold, the treatment should last 2 weeks, because the birds drink less water.DO NOT forget to give probiotics to the pigeons after the treatment because the antibiotics destroy ALL the bacteria in the intestines including beneficial bacteria. I’m amazed to see that often probiotics are forgotten, although they are extremely important in the fight against salmonella and for the well-being of the bird.
  8. Lad downloaded kodi onto laptop and i use navy x --watched revenant and martian the other night.
  9. They are very expensive seed to buy,not the sort of seed to feed other than added to a mix in small quantities-- bit like a sneaky mix or fat mix.
  10. W.D.A. still use wicker baskets--https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPubOb2Fqzw

  15. well its that time of year when the new season ahead is in everyones mind but it seems still a long way off, breeding has started in a few lofts or thoughts of prep in others when i read peters pandys post. Blackpool has come and gone-[didnt go this year ] and never spent as many days in bed --this getting old is s h i t. the constant rain is a bummer and would rather have the snow and frost, but could be worse if i lived in cumbria--they got hit bad. like a few other fanciers i have reduced my team for next year and closed down my small stock loft by loaning out my stockbirds, and reduced race team by only keeping young cocks. i dont race the channel but do fly in saturday club inland and two midweek clubs [6 bird limit] sprint 80 mile. so for this season its yearling cocks and a mixture of hens. hopeing to keep youngbird numbers below 30 for 2016 season-so dont want to breed too many as i like buying in 6 to 8 while on coach trip to belgium and holand--trip doesnt seem far away now and i look forward to it.first w/end in march. well with a bit luck we all hope for a red card and if we are realy lucky 1st federation ---lets hope.but most of all hope we get good weather on saturdays and wednesday nights. had a good y/bird season for me in 2015 with my belgian imports heres hopeing 2016 is as good. ALL THE BEST FOR 2016 SEASON.
  16. Try looking at expanded metal company limited.
  17. Got my NEHU rings one side great the other needs sharp edge removed---will have to put on upside down to protect skin on birds leg. pics not the bestbut check youf rings.
  18. GREAT RESULTS----just to top the fed for a lot of fanciers gives them bragging rights,to have results like these guys gives them screaming rights WELL DONE TO ALL. A new season wipes the slate and expectations for 2016 start to rise as our birds finish the moult and are looking 100%, thoughts of the new youngbird team are in our minds---how many are we going to breed , are the young birds you ordered going to be as good as you expect --there is a lot of ifs and buts ,but the excitement has started for me as i have paired up my small team and have ordered a few young to top the team up. Hope you all have a great 2016 season and top the fed at least once----this will give you bragging rights so be vocal if you do and post it on site.
  19. first four y/bird races on saturday i race 2 midweek clubs-took y/bird averages in one and runner up y/bird averages in the other---equal best y/bird in federation [4 clubs make up fed]
  20. Craig can only tell you how i do it------have good results to back up my method. firstly the loft is 8ft x 6ft ------landing board full lenth of front, birds on this all day as cage on it and can go in and out of it---door on side of loft with internal mesh door.---loft not facing best way --direct north. Landing board lifts up to block front of loft for darkness ---only vent in bottom of side door so i dont overcrowd them---- 30 or just ---just over. young birds bred early ,old ones paired over christmas. young birds weaned onto darkness ---- 14 hrs per day till 21st june then daylight as normal lights on till 11pm no timer just switch off,you will find they are roosting up in the boxes anyway. train y/birds 12 to 14 weeks old----so get them up ,too much corn keeps them down on the floor ? as long as they are flying get the basket out. first toss for me is other side of house and half way up the football field they s hit themselves when they come out but see home as soon as they are up now this is basket training step up to suit. this isnt gospel its what i do it works for me.
  21. Sign of the times get them up.
  22. Y40 after antibiotics as said to combat increased yeast levels.
  23. Think they have to go to approved quarantine loft so more expence seem to remember guy at houghton le spring ran one his name was colin surtees.
  24. Time will tell ! But stand by my thoughts---latebreds are good to put in the stock loft but losses if they are trained and raced in my experience losses are horrendous. Young birds bred and basket training starting at 12 to 14 weeks old at short distances slowly building to 15 miles raced as much as possible if birds are fit and healthy and weather permits . BUT MANY ROADS TO ROME ---do as you want and enjoy yourself as you attempt to beat your clubmates--good luck for 2016
  25. save your time and effort--kull the lot--you will loss nearly all trying to train and the rest as soon as you try racing them .
