  7. I was told that a latebred is a youngster hatched after 1st May, anything hatched before that should be old enough to race. Paul
  8. With the cost of buying pigeons it now seems to be the norm to breed off strays that enter a loft and then try the progeny if the youngsters are any good report it if not throw it out or cull it. Paul
  9. Thats all that ever happens with RPRA things go up, the rings go up and they are made at the same place as NWHU are but yet they are only 15p to members, also the RPRA will not allow the BHW to take adverts off NWHU because they sell things cheaper than them, all they want is your money. Paul

    Darkness Methods

    I once read of a lady fancier in Belgium who let her youngsters go ranging before putting them on the dark and then she only put them on for 6 weeks, has anyone else heard of this method
  11. A friend of mine had one of the cat detterrents but he said it only worked for about 12 months and then the cats got used to it, he thought maybe the battery was on the blink so he bought a new one with no difference whatsoever.
  12. If birds in the baskets have anything wrong with them, you are quite within your rights for the officials of the club to remove them.

    All racers must win either as youngsters or yearlings or they don't stay any longer.

    There could be many reasons, hens overweight, cocks being knocked off when treading, depending on where the stock birds came from have they been using antibiotics too much, are they being sat proper which could be mite in the nesting material or mice in the loft disturbing them are but just a few.     Our birds go out as much as possible, winter or summer, birds are meant to fly not be locked up in my opinion.

    Feedings per day?

    Once per day but they do get a bit of seed in the racing season after morning fly ( widowhood cocks)
  22. Parted them I put the first ring on today as I only paired on Jan 30th.
  23. You always have to think you can improve no matter what you won the year before, thats part of the enjoyment of this sport, you can't always do it and you may at that time be a little despondant but you pick yourself up dust yourself down and try again, thats what its all about. Paul
  24. Fifer, I know what it says but why the need for the until further notice, the other bit seems like an afterthought to me, a bit like the goverment when they let something out of the bag before they should.
  25. In this weeks VFTR Peter Bryant ends the bit on ETS with the words conventional clocks can still be used until further notice, why is there a need for the until further notice bit ? Is there a plan to phase out conventional clocks ? Beanz
