Since Amtrak have for most fanciers been crap, what makes people think just because you can have an account or book online that they are going to improve.
Ransom, must admit being a Van Reet enthusiast myself you have some cracking birds, unfortunately can't post any of mine as I use works computer, can't get on ours for kids.
Going back to the original thread which said IF racing was banned, well I would most definately not keep my 2007 youngsters for 2 reasons first and foremost No room and secondly the birds in my widowhood loft at the moment are all prizewinners, most of them 1st prizewinners so why would I get shut of any of them for untried youngsters.
Winning birds come in all shapes and sizes so it is hard to choose just 1 of the features, I know fanciers who have hated certain pigeons as youngsters but as soon as they win they become the nicest birds in the loft. One fancier near me once had a youngster with a twisted keel which he did not like but he trained it and raced it and it won it became one of his favourites.
We move them at 21 days, they are put in young bird loft and then they are on their own, no dipping of heads or straw, it does not seem to do them any harm.
Mark if you fly half as good there as you did with your dad up here you will be a force to be reckoned with. Good Luck mate hope you have a good season.
Paul
Using tobacco stalks and nest felts for the first time this year, always used straw before and never caught any harm but good straw is getting harder to come by hence the change.
One of the fanciers around here had his loft burned down and so he bought a metal container to use as a loft so it could not be burned again, he lined it with wood and he has raced to it with success in 2006 including topping the federation.
The Chairman runs meetings and is there to see the smooth running of the club were the president is a figurehead but should run the AGM and is there for advice to the secretary and members on legal matters mainly.
If it was not on the agenda as a proposition it is illegal, why do they say all propositions have to be in 28 days before the AGM. THIS IS SOS ALL MEMBERS CAN BE NOTIFIED.
£200 each for 2 van reet cocks, both winners and both bred winners for me, a blue cock who I have retired this year 4 x 1st clubs and 1st, 2nd, 4th, 4th, 6th, 6th, 8th fed and he is also now breeding winners.
I have only used Baytril once when it was prescribed by a vet, there is nothing wrong with it if it is used correctly but if abused it will destroy your birds immune system.
Problem is not with the sport its the people in it, to many clashes of personalities, I won't send in that club because he does at the end of the day all you need to do is send your birds if you don't like someone for any reason well you don't have to sit with him all night, get your clock and go or move to another part of the pub and have a drink with someone else, it ain't rocket science.
Don't give mine anything if birds are fit and healthy they should not need anything, however any birds that have perhaps been hit and miss with breeding the year before I would give Wheatgerm oil .
Why do you decry Blackpool it may not be your cup of tea but it is the place where the show has been held for a long while and as mentioned in other posts where you slagged it off, most go to meet friends old and new if you don't like it don't go but there is no need to slag it off, you can always go to the Welsh national cage bird show its not my cup of tea or probably a lot of other peoples but I don't see anybody slagging it off.
