  1. Unless there is a valid reason the birds should be liberated to suit all fanciers including those that work, if the weather is closing in and its a bad forecast for the next couple of days so the chance of a liberation is very poor or in the case of youngsters extreme heat then thats different, I can live with that. I work some Friday nights so it does not affect me every week.
  2. I think if you are only a few hundred yards away and you take your loft with you and none at the old address they will break pretty easily, they may stay out overnight but they will in all likelyhood find there way back, racing them will be another matter as they may still go back to the old address first.
  3. Van Reets, Wildemeersch, Marcellis, Lemputteens & Jansens, brought in some Mardon Van Reets, Vandanabeeles and a Tournier cock for next season
  4. Like to race all distances
  5. Class birds, I have bought some myself for next year as stock. Will try them against my own Van Reets.
  6. Widowhood for me.

    Colour change

I once had a blue cock that was blue for 4 years and when he turned 5 he became the most pencilled pigeon I have ever seen, never went back to being a blue
  8. K.Guest Bros of St. Helens Merseyside race some of them, Good Flyers
  9. i THINK THERE ARE QUITE A FEW FAMILIES, VAN REETS MUST BE ONE OF THE TOPS AND WHAT ABOUT THE bUSSCHAERTS WHEN THEY FIRST CAME THEY WERE NOTED SPRINT PIGEONS.
  10. agree with you mark but also some fanciers may have to change their birds too many tail winds, but feeding systems would have to change
  11. ribble, at the moment i am feeding good belgian corn for the 50p a bag more than farm corn so why should I use farm corn when i can get food at that price, I am not knocking fanciers who feed farm corn you feed what your pocket can afford at the end of the day but as i said if I can feed branded corn for more or less the same price as farm stuff then thats what I personally will do

    andrew

may not be illegal but it is very dodgy and underhand, he will come around where have I heard that before, thats why society is like it is now because people keep saying give them a chance, sort them out early and they may become genuine folk leave them and they end up in prison but not before they have done some serious damage to someone or something.

    Mardon Sale

Anybody what pays over £50 for a 2006 bird at these sales has got a screw loose, that is the price that they charged in their adverts. Only thing is people go mad at auctions thats why they are all held in clubs or pubs so when you have had afew it is easier to get you to part with your money
  14. With the mixtures that are available today you can get good food at near enough the same price as you pay for farm foods I know which I would sooner have and it aint the farm stuff.
  15. on the topic of user id's I beleive on other forums you can use an id but there is a membership list where you can see the true identity of the person maybe this is what Mike would like to see, personally it wouldn't bother me.

    Cold Weather

I change nothing, my roof is made from onduline sheets so the only air comes in through them, I have no other vents and the birds fly well and don't seem to come to any harm in winter so why change ?
  17. If its at night I use the one at work, but when I am at home its in my sons bedroom ( tip ) and then the problem is getting on it with 3 kids you just have to spy your chance

    WINTER

I try to get my birds out as much as possible as this means you dont have to work them as much at the beginning of the season in cold winds. Also after a frosty night you get some really sunny days and the birds love them
  19. CS they sell both
  20. What has the mealy pied cock bred ?
  21. I think it takes all sorts, I have raced them all through and my best bird at the moment was not raced at all as a youngster but was given 3 training tosses and left till a yearling, what you will notice is that if you take a nest pair race and train one of these and leave the other to mature there will be a vast difference in their body size and stature but which one will be the best, well taht will be the pigeon with the most brains.
  22. when I first flew widowhood and heard everyone saying their birds did an hour I wondered why mine only did 12-15 mins, couldn't flag them or they would just go on the houses, went to the fed presentation and spoke with top flyer who told me his birds did same as mine but he said when they drop get them in no matter how long they did, this I did and they have flown well in racing ever since, on the flying for a hour statement he said don't beleive everything you are told as most people actually let them out for a hour they did not fly for a hour.
  23. I'll be there only live 30 miles away, can go anytime but there is nothing like the weekend, wish it was this weekend
  24. Also birds were two beauties and they had no health problems.
  25. My birds did not go on his house or any house for that matter he was just an *expletive removed* as he complained about my birds flying over his garden, I offered to put a sign up telling them not to fly over it but he refused that offer.I let my widowhood cocks out at 05-30 in a morning and they were back in by 05-50 and so he never saw them then as he was in dreamland, he works in St.Helens court so since I work nights I used to get up and pick my daughter up afrom school at 3pm so when I got home the widowhood cocks went out again so he did not see them then as he was still at work, the only birds he saw were my youngsters unless it was weekend so I don't know how he could complain. Oh i forgot to mention all my other neighbours backed me up with statements saying there was no trouble with the birds. When I bought my house 4 years ago the land was owned by the council and was classed as an allotment which with Wigan Council they can only be used for gardening, so I asked them to sell me the land which they did and I had to have planning permission and had 3 visits from environmental health who were happy with it, I also asked the *expletive removed* when I moved in if he had any problems with me have pigeons which he said no as he thought about getting some once but there were too many cats about, so why he suddenly changed I don't know.
