But did you test it when the bird had food in its crop again? And was the food a light and easily digestible mixture?

Billy, did you test the theory again when the bird had the same type of food in its crop?
  3. Aslong as it isnt the day of basketing you will be fine. As you want your birds to drink freely and with cider vinegar the birds are reluctant to drink. You can add it to what you said also without any problems. On a personal note i do not use cider vinegar at all in the racing season, and its the first time in donkeys years i havent used it at all in this off season

Ofcourse you can, i would give it a good wash, and a very slight sprinkling of sea salt and give it to them as it is.

  9. Your possibly right dal...but i keep no distance families here so i couldnt say but i expect them to race to 510 miles. However if i did i would want them scoring in the races they was bred for by the time their babies are two years old as in my opinion a 2 year old is in the prime of their lifes.
  10. It really depends, if one of them is your base family and one is a new introduction its a risk. When i introduce a new family i will intend to bring in a pair, or two-three pairs, and they must win without being brought into the base. Theyll get two years to do this, if they do not beat my base pigeons they will never be crossed. As the idea is that whatever i bring in must be better or equally as good as the base. Last year i bought in the sticker donckers and they proved to me on a number of occasions when they came with the base birds to win, they was so good out of the 4 bred from them , 3 of them scored multiple times in club and fed. So this season they will be crossed into my base. But i swear by crossing good birds, the closer to the tree(champion) of both strains the better
  11. Well done geo i told you she would do it

    Wandering Hens

Bill, they must be settled before you open all the boxes... We pair and everything is locked in their boxes at first, but you always get one pair that dont take to each other, so on the first day of pairing we leave this pair out, the next day this pair go back in the boxes, and we let out one pair at a time, a couple hours a day each, and we may do this for 2-3 days, and gradually we start letting out more and more pairs at a time, two pairs at time, 3 pairs at a time ect, until eventually by day 6-7 we have successfully got every pair out of their box and content, but generally by this time, my cocks do not let my hens move from their boxes as they are generally driving very hard.
  14. Hi Dava, she is a Gevaert Van Schoorisse crossed Andre Diereck, her nest brother was a very good sprint cock for me but i lost him at the bad Kelso we had. Both their parents were purchased at an entire clearance salr of Darren Norris from the midlands. Their sire is a 5x1st club 2x1st fed winner called Ready Mix, and he is from the lines that Pipa have recently made famous of Gevaerts the 'Redbull'. Their Dam is a pigeon Called True Pied, she had one race of her life won the club and federation, herself being a daughter of Darrens famous pigeon True Grit, 13x1st club, 2x1st combine ect.
  15. Ive raced hens now for 2 years andy, as you know from your novice asks post i was going to start, and to be honest i wouldnt look back, real honest pigeons that recover quicker then cocks
  16. I think we were the week before the NRCC pal, it was a tough race the LNRC was libbed with North Thames North Road Combine they fly roughly 30-50 miles shorter, and no birds in NTNRC were recorded on day of liberation, and only 4 Galiant birds made it home in the LNRC on the day.
  17. She may pleasantly surprise you andy if you race her
  18. She not on nest now roly, the photo of her sitting was after she had just flown 510 miles on the day in a head wind
