Why do birds have a preference for this type of grit....ive noticed when i give a mixed grit, they will eat all the red stone but are give or take on the rest of the mixture, and grit is given fresh daily

Yes the cocci is elevated because of the high canker levels billy, which i did state if u got a high cocci count it is down to one of two things either a damp/bad loft or a different underlying health issue, in which case as u described a high canker count i havent treated for cocci in so many years now i couldnt tell ya the last time i treated em for it.

I for one couldnt tell ya what a strong back means, but what i will say is i like the tail to be a natural extension of the pigeon meaning the tail should never go up or down just straight

Forget the cocci treatment, if you have a cocci problem something else health wise or your loft is wrong. If you have a dry loft the cocci count will always be low and not need to be treated. If it flares up its not the cocci you should be worrying about but the other underlying problem.

Dal are they fed 20 grams(8grams under an ounce)? Having played with feed for years i know in the "Tropical Climate" of the South, the birds being fed 20grams are constantly on the look out for food and have no desire in flying for a good time scale, so im a bit shocked that in the "bitter coldness" of the north that they will fly between 2-4 hours, so im a bit intrigued on how its achieved as the answer may take us all onto that next level.

Pete, could you please tell people your routine for exercise and more in depth about your feeding, as from my own experience feeding 20 grams per day per pigeon the birds are constantly looking for food and do not exercise for even the hour, unlike your own on the feeding flying for 2?
