Yes dal theyd have been okay on breed and wean for 3 weeks after weaning, then theyd have been put on something much lighter in protein here. Once introducing the light feed even when on the dark they soon find out what their wings are for.

Dal, imo it would be a feeding issue then....alot of people imo make the mistake that young birds need these right heavy mixes full of protein, but infact the opposite. Fat pigeons wont exercise, and fat pigeons do not moult as freely imo.....the lighter the mix the better a young bird will fly, and moult while still on the darkness. I will be coming off dark next weekend

Id say 99.9% that wish to be competetive with young birds through their entire programme race this system.

Maybe its talking about the difference in medication possibly in the summer and winter times dosage, i.e one measure in the summer, and 2 measures in the winter as the birds drink less

The old saying was along the lines of Silver Cocks was very rare, and that when bred should be kept as they are fantastic producers. Couldnt say if it was true as dad knew a fancier when he was a kid and all he had was a team of silvers cocks and hens, although he never raced, i believe these were alf baker based.

This year i have bred a silver cock out of a extremely well proven pair, sire and dam to in my own loft 3 generations of winners from 72 mile to 510 mile. They have never bred a yb this colour before, is the silver cock saying an old wives tale? Whats your experiences?

The birds shouldnt be heavy if you are doing it similar to me sparko? Hens do not need to be forced to fly, they fly better then what young birds do ranging. Put your actual system up,saturday to friday, supplements as well and also if they have been treated for anything

With hens the idea ive found build em up till monday, then break them down till wednesday, then build up again thursday and friday. Work them hard if possible hens thrive on graft and it stops them going lesbian
