  1. I think if i had to work shifts, my system would involve a hopper full of barley infront of the birds at all times, and feed the mix whenever i could, if i couldnt get any help.
  2. I have something similar made up for my young birds peter its the only way they can drink.
  3. Podgy, the young bird photo'd is the Young Bird Of The Year in The East London Federation, which i bred, Bill bred his sire. But your right Bill has some quality there. John, you are right this is how the game should be, me and bill have created a great friendship, and some of my birds reside in his loft also. I have a few from bill and i think they have a fantastic future in my family of birds. Thanks for all the nice comments.
  4. Funny you say that Billy, he contains the blood of the Whitenose Limoges on his Tail grandams side! Will get an updated photo when his young birds are away.
  5. In 2015, my friend Bill Walsh, sent me a latebred in August. The blue turned out to be a cock bird, and in 2016, i paired him to a home bred exceptional ex race hen who was stopped due to her bad trapping, who was a full sister also to My 'Nearly Frank' cock who was 2nd Open London North Road Combine Berwick. Together they produced the young bird pictured, who i picked out from the nest as my favourite from my whole young bird team. Today i have just received confirmation that this young bird has won 'Young Bird of The Year In The East London Federation'. winning 2x1st and 1x3rd where he was beaten by loft mates,in the club and 2nd,4th(when the loft took 1st,3rd and 4th Fed) and 7th East London Federation, also 2nd Essex and Kent Amalgamation.I would like to thank Bill for providing me the sire, especially as the young cocks nest sister also had a 1st and 2nd club plus federation positions. Thank you Bill, and i hope the cock carries on passing his winning genes here.
  6. Thanks Roland
  7. Cheers john
  8. Cheers Billy, 100% Frank Tasker bloodlines being line bred to Willy Thas' Pokke, i think you can see a resemblance of the old cock in him, interestingly he was bred from the race team, his mother is a top breeder here responsible for a lot of winners and she is a past fed winner also.
  9. Cheers Paul, as you can imagine being an ex widowhood cock not many have been taken from him, but i have 2 fed winning daughters of him alone who are also multiple performers, and a really good son of him also. Im looking to build my family around him in the future. I will pair him to his best daughters if everything goes to plan at the end of the season.
  10. Could be the old desmond result thinking about it...2-2
  11. Hard to say this being a spurs man but i think liverpool will want to come back from there long losing streak and spurs missing a key player out with danny rose, i think liverpool 1-0
  12. You had half brother to his mother at one time mate

  14. Lol okay lets say reverse then
  15. I did say in this DAY and age, yes it worked years ago, but feeding has moved on, and if ya dont move with the times you get left behind. If one thing has changed in racing it is the way fanciers feed, it has done a complete 360 degrees, the way fanciers feed later in the week, are now what they feed at the beginning just as an example.
  16. Times have moved on Peter, Alf is a legend in my eyes but if he was feeding that in this day and age he wouldnt be winning round these parts.
  17. Do like your photos john hoping you keep up the photo taking throughout the year
  18. Start ringing today

  19. Havent used em for a number of years dunno why but just stopped, however i did buy some at blackpool, and will use them when i feel is the right time.
  20. Cracker, ive just introduced some blood from Kris Van Massenhoven myself, whos the dam of Black Power comes from.
  21. Whats the reason behind that john?
  22. Your keeping all your birds in one loft andrew, is just the same as keeping em in different lofts in the garden, pigeons hearing is much better then ours, they will hear the opposit sex no matter where they are situated. However in my loft design my hen section is the only section without clear roof tiles purposaly so the hens stay much quieter.
  23. One thing to consider is also how many birds your going to be keeping, making sure you have enough air in the loft, so roughly youll be keeping 60 old bird racers, how many ybs you planning to breed and how many stock birds are you keeping.
  24. One thing you need to look at when designing a loft is the width and depths of your perches you are looking to acquire, it makes planning your sections easier
  25. My loft is similar but with a corridor running all the way through. I have stock, yb section, yb section, hen section, cock section and cock section. I like to be ontop of the birds ally they are much more tamer and calmer and i feel they have more love of home Hens need very little space btw but its down to the individual just something ive found.
