  6. Many would have heard of the tail grandam theory inany given pedigree, basically being the most important pigeon in a birds lineage, as stated by old hand in his strain makers ....i know in my own loft it holds true, and that was before i actually knew about it. What is your take?

  11. Baldeagle, i look for the curtain in the throat, as ive said many times on this forum, i was lucky enough that frank tasker, took me under his wing when he was alive, and showed me the method first hand, and what to look for. I was also fortunate enough that Ronnie Bigwood was also a neighbour of mine, and he also believed in the throat, and when i was still in the learning stage of the throat, i could fire questions. Many watched secrets of champions and felt they understood the theory overnight, ill be honest it took me at least two years for me to say i could trust my judgement. If you want to learn about the throat the best dvd on it is the original best of british with frank and geoff kirkland
  12. The pedigree for me is the upmost importance. Then i look at the throat, which for me is very important, ive been to lofts and picked out fanciers best breeders without being told anything about the birds. I also purchased a pair at blackpool a few years ago selected only on the throat, the rest could be said to be history as they bred my 'After Eight' plus other good birds.

  18. A. Gadsdon & Son(Custom House Working Mens Club & Newham Invitation Flying Club, East London Federation) In just the last 4 years we have achieved the following results racing just 16 pair of old birds, and between 30-40 young birds 47 x 1st Club 10 x 1st Federation 1st Open London North Road Combine Thurso 510 Miles 2nd Open London North Road Combine Berwick 306 Miles 5th Open London North Road Combine Berwick 306 Miles London North Road Combine Hall Of Fame winner (A pigeon Achieving 3 x top 50 open in London North Road Combine Thurso 510 miles) Joe Mahoney Trophey For Best Three Bird Average Thurso 510 Miles Runner Up Tommy Long Trophy (best combined average for all Old Bird London North Road Combine Races. 2nd Open Essex and Kent Amalgamation Wetherby 177 Miles 4th Open Essex and Kent Amalgamation Wetherby 177 Miles 4th Open Essex and Kent Amalgamation Wetherby 177 Miles 2 x RPRA London Region Awards Numerous times Sprint Champions of the East London Federation As well as many more top London North Road Combine and Essex and Kent Amalgamation Positions Prior to this period we have also been 1st Open London North Road Combine Lerwick 599 Miles. The family of birds we race could be considered our own strain, however we have two main bases, and that is Frank Taskers and Gevaert van Schoorrisse. Consequently to these bloodlines you will find many other strains such as Sticker Donckers, Carl & Cyriel Lambrechts, Vandenbrande Brothers, Soontjen, Gabby Vandenabeele, Andrie Diereck, Paul Pardons, Jules Mannaert, Maurice Cassaert, Willy Thas, Billy Lynch, Tony Calverely, Danny van Dyke, Marcel Wouters, Van Den Dreissche, Frans Laermans, Leo Heremans and Paul Haeltermans. As you can see the family is a series of crossings, and we strive to keep on looking for better, and cross in only the best when we find out if they can improve our team when they was kept pure. We would like to offer to the fancy, a select number of young birds from our race team for the price of £25 a piece, plus carriage. For this price no pedigrees for the birds would be supplied, unless proof of results have been given, as the aim for these young birds is to be raced. Very few pigeons have left these lofts the last few seasons, but the lofts that have had them have been highly successful, including some members of pigeon basics. To encourage feedback and for pigeon basics only, i will offer a prize to the best performing young bird of the year a late bred in 2017 from my London North Road Combine Hall of Fame winner when paired to my 1st Open London North Road Combine Thurso Winner After Eight. Any interested parties or questions please get in contact via private message.

    Irish Mixes

Talking to a friend in ireland marcielbill, he had a belief that irish pigeons needed to be fed a higher protein feed, due to their climate. Racing on my system it proved to him that this wasnt the case. However many still believe it does. Much like the junior uk mixes, they are very high in protein also, as many uk fanciers like these heavy mixes.
  20. Nice write up george
  21. Hi George, yes the old mencke haelterman blood was very dominant, still dominant in my loft today. As you know the Blue Eole when paired to Whitenose bred the Jonge Whitenose, who was the dam of Champion Filmstar. As you may also know the sire of filmstar was called Blue Telstar, he was from a pigeon called Eole(full brother to the Blue Eole) when paired with the Telstar hen. So Filmstar was line bred to the pair of Belg64-4761205 and Belg67-4791903. All the best Ryan
  22. As you know very well geo i race 16 pair of old birds, and around 40-45 young birds, but my selection is ruthless
  23. Yes podgy Franks birds where really good theyve been successful here upto 510 miles. Would love to see the bloodlines you have
  24. the Old Slateys cock (GB2012 C 19050) his sire and grandsire of winners for ourselves and two fanciers up the country and very few have ever left the lofts here from him as he has been in the race team. This will be his first year at Stock for us, he won from word go as a baby. He is line bred to Frank Taskers Blue Pokke(sire of franks olympiad)who was a direct son of Willy Thas' famous pokke. There is a slight touch of Willy Thas' Beckham line in there also. He was bred in the race loft, from two performance pigeons with the mother being a fed winner herself. 1st NIF club Berwick 306 miles, 2nd CHWM club Berwick 306 miles, 3rd EL Fed Berwick 306 miles, 7th Open London North Road Combine Berwick Yearling 306 miles, 12th Open London North Road Combine Berwick 306 Miles, 1st CHWM club Market Rassen 130 miles, 1st EL Fed Market Rassen 130 miles, 1st CHWM club Market Rassen 130 miles, 3rd EL Fed Market Rassen 130 miles, 1st CHWM club Newark 114 miles, 5th EL fed Newark 114 miles, 2nd CHWM club Newark 114 miles, 5th EL fed Newark 114 Miles, 2nd CHWM Club Newark 114 miles, 7th EL Fed NewArk 114 miles, 2nd CHWM club Newark 114 miles, 5th EL Fed Newark 114 miles, 2nd Chwm club Wetherby 177 miles, 9th EL fed Wetherby 177 miles, 3rd CHWM club Wetherby 177 miles, 15th EL Fed Wetherby 177 miles, 4th CHWM club Peterborough 74 miles, 7th EL fed peterborough 74 miles, 4th CHWM club Peterborough 74 miles, 4th CHWM Club Newark 114 miles, 4th CHWM club Ripon 192 miles, 6th CHWM club Newark 114 miles, 8th EL Fed Newark 114 miles, 6th CHWM club Newark 114 miles, 13th EL Fed Newark 114 Miles, 6th CHWM club Newark 114 miles, 8Th EL Fed Newark 114 miles,
