  1. Well Done Jacko, that's a richt Carron-wynder as my Da would say!
  2. Well Done to All, Lovely hand written result too, don't see them anymore, now the comp has taken over.
  3. Well Done All and esp the Avonbrig guys, keep it up.
  4. The Combine I am in at present uses corrugated paper and coarse sand, it seems ok, but I preferred the grills used by the Fed we used to be in, with hand made small mesh wire grills and newspaper underneath. Felt it kept them cleaner, plus they didn't slide about so much in transit.
  5. Yes, have fed both, used to get G10 from local stockist, but he gets P40 ones now. I prefer the P40 ones even though they are more expensive. The birds eat them readily, due to Aniseed on them, been advised not to give more than 10% added to mixture as they can be fattening. Last year I added some to Hormoform that I gave to the stock birds and was finding that the birds were picking all the pellets out within minutes. Hope this is of some use.

    Wanted

Don't know if it is the one you are looking for but there are a series of 3 articles on their website, written by Joe Murphy?
  7. Would the new type of Creosote work just as well or will it have to be the original stuff?
  8. My Dad had a call from someone, a male, reporting a problem with my account. Dad replied, ok tell me which Bank it is and I will let him know when he comes home. The person then hung up, no number was left to call them back. Just a heads up incase anyone else gets called?
  9. 53 of the poor birds, gone, and god knows how many more?
  10. Don't think anyone writer has divided opinions more than Joe has over the years! It would be interesting to read some of his old articles written during the time when he was PRO for the SNFC. Wonder if his opinion has changed slightly since then on how things are being run. This is not an attack on him as he come up with some good ideas over the years, like anyone else I suppose? Re Transporters You should read some of the comments on the other pigeon site regarding the divided opinions on the different types of transporters used in the English Nats, Classic Clubs. Especially after the very hot spell we had last year, when if I'm correct you didn't send to Ypres because of the heat? Can I ask how many pigeon men have actually spent any time in the back of a transporter, loading unloading birds etc?
  11. Can't remember when Bobby, the eldest died, must have been in the late 70s early 80s. Kirky, passed away in the early 90s I think.
  12. Did you ever meet them Lewis or was it before your time?
  13. Found this article in an old paper, hope you can open it ok? PIGEON.pdf
  14. My Dad worked with some of his brothers when they all worked in Carron Foundry, many years ago. They made sure Rab's birds got whatever he wanted for them. One of them kept up the birds after he passed on, racing them from the old loft. Would like to know where he is buried?

    Well Done to All
  16. My partner had been looking on the vacancies pages on their website, and there are 100s of jobs up for grabs in Scotland at the moment. Especially in Fife and the North. Also Fife has lots of vacancies for teachers to teach Scottish as a second language, is this Gaelic,or to teach English to non native children? Thanks for any replies.
  17. RIP
  18. Been using Hoppers for a few years now. I bought those bags with the feeding holes in them, sorry but I can't remember the name they were sold under. Fly Natural so don't have to worry about control of the birds, but they do know when there's a titbit on the way and soon learn.

Yes, I remember my Dad let me stay up late to watch them, think I was only about 7 or 8 then? Was it in black & white or colour? Our old tv only had 2 channels but it lasted 21 years before it conked out!!! lol
  20. There is a topic in pigeonchat on the same advert, worth a look at. Had a Border *expletive removed* ourselves for 14yrs,great wee dog and my parents absolutely loved it. Couldn't fault them, really good pets, and great for vermin also, and never touched a feathered bird. Patterdale's are a bit more frisky I'm told?
  21. 70p in the club, 50p of which goes to the Fed, and 20p for prize money. Trainers are 70p also with the 20p going to club funds. Clocks £1 and Nom £1 on top of that. My Dad flies in NW Fed, think he pays 35p a bird, which I think is very good compared to others.
  22. Sent them your reply, cheers.
