  17. As a new starter I would suggest you just race your cocks. There's a lot to be learnt and it'll be a case of learning as you go along. It can often be the case by taking on to much that you cant see the woods for the tree's. If you were intending to exercise the race team (cocks & hens)twice a day it will take up 3-4 hours of your time, young birds will take up another hour. You need to observe then reflect on how your pigeons are exercising/acting around home, having pigeons out for 5 hours a day isn't conducive with this, you will miss things.
  18. Ta yes plenty big enough, as said a good depth would be a bonus.

    The Ryder Cup

In my eyes just about the best sporting event on the calendar. Do not disturb!
  21. My problem with Gerry is that its all small seeds/grains, the pigeons become picky. My preference is a high carb w/h mix, something with a bit of substance to it. You could add Gerry to this at the back end of the week.
  22. Experiment with something in-between. Add to your race mix a % of barley at the front end of the week, back end of the week add a high fat mix.
  23. Its my belief that it jumped on the back of my youngsters whilst they were down with y/b/s. I was advised to treat with Dicural (which I did).
  24. The moult is a natural thing and healthy pigeons just need be fed sound feed & plain water (no need to pay more for moulting mixtures). Pigeons sitting eggs/feeding youngsters or worked hard will moult much slower than resting unpaired pigeons.
  25. If they're standard w/hood boxes Pete put them in the loft upside down, this should give you a good surface to kick off with. My preference would be Virkon-S as this would make its way into the nooks & crannies better.
