I believe your race program is much more punishing than ours in the UK. If you could put up your program (miles) it would give me a better understanding on the why's and whatfors on the way you feed. Cheers.

    treatment

This reminds me of Vic's thread on Paratyphoid.......... pigeons under performing, pigeons look well handle well exercise well but something's just not right. Not saying Paratyphoid is the problem but Vic treated it as such.

There's many strains of e.coli. Was the sample you sent of cultured? it should have been to find out what is the best course of antibiotics to administer.

    Pigeon trivia

Question: A rich man's son was kidnapped. The ransom note told him to bring a valuable diamond to a phone booth in the middle of a public park. Plainclothes police officers surrounded the park, intending to follow the criminal or his messenger. The rich man arrived at the phone booth and followed instructions but the police were powerless to prevent the diamond from leaving the park and reaching the crafty villain. What did he do? Answer: This is a true story from Taiwan. When the rich man reached the phone booth he found a carrier pigeon in a cage. It had a message attached telling the man to put the diamond in a small bag which was around the pigeon's neck and to release the bird. When the man did this the police were powerless to follow the bird as it returned across the city to its owner.
  16. The only thing around here that was cracking this morning was me Rice Crispies.
  17. My views are if yearlings are going be raced on w/hood then racing them as y/birds is a must. I've seen all to often where people have had big losses in old bird racing and just train up their y/birds to get a decent team for the following year only to do most of them in the first few races. If your going to wind up an inexperienced pigeon you asking for trouble.

  21. I bet the same people that were for the banning of blood sports are also members of the RSPB. Perhaps we should put it across to them that they are in fact financing blood sport supporters, in other words financing those that are for and are actively reintroducing peregrines. Put it across to them that these same members are getting their rocks of knowing birds are getting ripped open and hunted to decimation and they themselves are part of it. Label all RSPB members as armchair blood sport supporters, this just might get their attention.
  22. Soap their flights down with some washing up liquid, they'll not be able to get airborne

  24. First of all thanks for posting this peter.j This is no cure just an expensive way of clearing a pigeons crop. The fasting and feeding light and more importantly the resting of the pigeons for a week or so has been covered numerous times on other threads, this is all that’s required. The holding of corn is only one symptom of this virus, don’t get fooled into thinking once they're eating and digesting proper they're cured...they're not. Treat them like you would treat yourself suffering from a bout of flu, the shits & vomiting goes but you ache like **** for days after.... rest is all important.
