I wonder what the furthest flying pigeon timed in today will be. I think to the London lads its around the 600 mile mark, if any of these get one on the day It'll be a truly amazing performance. Good luck to all that sent.
  13. Yesterday the weather here had to be seen to be believed. When I say that we had thunderstorms throwing hail out of the sky the size of ice cubes is no exaggeration, this storm went on for over an hour. Plastic sputnik traps were demolished, corrugated plastic roofs on Avery’s busted to bits but the unbelievable bit was I got a pigeon come through this when the storm/hail was at its worse. How my pigeon managed to fly through that I’ll never know. I don’t normally give my pigeons names but this one I’ve named Caesar......... Hail Caesar.

Birds going over Dagenham 12:30hrs rooftop high, suspect they're the UNC Good luck
  16. ***UPDATE*** Me not being a fool (I know that’s debatable ;D) took the advice of fanciers on here and upped the fat & carb content in their feed as the distance races approached. Safflower/maize/peanuts & sunflower hearts were all added to their diet 7 days before a 387 mile race.......result a yearling hen scored 6th open LNRC Stonehaven. The next test will be in 2 weeks time when 4 or 5 will be selected to go Thurso 508 miles to me.

  18. Welcome Blueberry Max, you'll find they're a real helpful bunch on here. Enjoy the site
  19. What I've been told, don’t know if its cobblers or not, look out for T&G made from Russian pine as apparently it grows much slower in the colder climates and this stops it from shrinking and gaps appearing in the T&G
  20. I've been of the drink for 20yrs 6mths 4dys 7hrs & 38 secs but who's counting ??)
  21. Page 2 in the Homing World lib line service 60p a minute. As far as I'm aware this cost the organisations nowt to set up but gets a return on the calls made. Something similar perhaps.
  22. A phone in sale in the Homing World & RP would kill two birds with one stone, advertising what its all about whilst getting money into the fund.
  23. Wouldn't be the first time he was found to be kidding :X
  24. Start at the other end skull, decide first which ones aren't going to go. Leave out any latecomers from last weeks race, they'll benefit from a weeks rest and a short training toss or two. Leave out hens that are eggy, yearling cocks that are driving. Leave out anything that has a new flight just bursting through. Handle what’s left, anything loose or dry in the feather stays at home and so on and so on.
  25. Personally I feel an Acronym shouldn’t be used. B.O.P.... P.O.B.....S.O.S......S.O.B.C. things like this doesn’t put any sort of message over to those not in the know. I’d look for a title that was short and sweet and as much to the point as possible. TTNF ??) Tony
