Sad to say that Delboy is 100% right. Further too many to All worried more about gaining a march, or have one up of any opposition, so ....

They certainly look the part. Here's hoping that they do you proud. Good luck.

I had cats galore here when I first came here. Got the electric fence up! Problem solved. Yes some watch from over the fences. New neighbour moved in... 7 cats ... too many. Says she 'I hope you don't mind ... and I hope they won't up set the pigeons! Idiot! So I placidly said. 'Nah they won't bother them none'. When I had to dismantle the lofts ... last time was when I built this bungalow for the birds ... Cat crap galore! Even had foot prints in the concrete floor lol... So as soon as able the electric fence was up. No problem. I have put wire mesh on all the fences... were the 6 x 6 squared. Then a electric wire on top... about 5 inches above. All around the top of the loft and two strands in centre in case one drops in from the trees ... Happen twice... But they got a shock lol. Now one fence I have bolted to my wall. The top is there for on neighbours side ... though my wall. She had a cat once.... Now has dogs sanctuary home etc. No problem . But in formed her that I have also run a wire on top of that! Told her that some times a cat would sit on the war watching my pigeons. Was a little perturb that a dog mite leap up and get a jolt. I said 'Wouldn't hurt it none ... but will disconnect it ... But watch the wire isn't join up ... I just wrap the wire together and a lead goes down to the wall wire. Said I will re-join if a cat sits on the wall ... which I have done the odd time ... they are soon cured. Best £63 I've ever spent regards the pigeon and fouling cats. No Crap in garden and peace of mind.

aH WE HAVE THE BIAS WISDOM OF A 'John' EH! Per usual, no sensible reply - beyond his reasoning power obviously Just a course load of 'Short' bunkum. Nary a sign as to whether there maybe any merit --- Of course not, he can't Does he know, let alone understanding of the ways and wherefores of the elderly. How strange and worry they are, or may get, and too embarrassed to ask etc. Indeed the not needed pros and cons. Nah, he just tries to tag along with what another may think, whilst he sit forlornly of the site hoping to garner a dig at me, and others, of what he isn't able to understand, let alone have a sensible reason / reply of WHY he thinks as such! Never has yet! He hasn't learnt, yet, how to join a pigeon club it seems .. or if indeed he has a pigeon etc. of course. P.s John there is only one answer to why ....which is? So I'll leave you where you belong, on the side whilst you find a 10 year old who can explain and even educate you ... Nah, sorry! even thinking that, let a lone hoping, I could be in peril of being a John lol :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Never mind the mind touting the Modern way ... Many older persons should still have the option of paying cash! Simple reality. Does the SNFC have people running their nationals that they can't trust them with a few quid!!!! The 'Cashier' could have a form for the purpose and log the cash, of his card / etc. for them. The older stalwarts have done more than their share for our so called sport and deserve the respect and curtesy of being able to have peace and ease of mind. They've earned it!!! No skin, or time loss for the SNFC to make things easier and more simple. Too many have their heads in the clouds ... up up their; place where the sun don't shine. Arrogance of trying, and a Flipping cheek trying to drag honest folks in to places not they are not familiar with, nor want! For what! Let them stay where they may feel uncomfortable. They will be gone soon enough mores the pity. I'll tell you what, I'd be more than happy, and full of trust, in letting me have their cash and writing out a cheque or card on their behalf! OR whatever! BUT THE SNFC and others can make it far, far, more easier than that. Time the swanks got of their high horses and remember what they look like on the toilet! Beside WHY should these stalwarts have the to have needless pressure put on them? After all, they are but very few left ... Another stupid act of so call times.

Nice to see a John endorsement lol. Thanks Mr Hunter.

I would also like to say, and express my thoughts on banter. Great, well needed and helps a good spirit on the site. Wind ups, great - yes DAL1. great too. .... Must admit sometimes us slow witted ones take a little while to gather and understand lol. Light hearted jovial comments great... Insults and slurs I feel could and should be binned. There! There you have it. For the 'John's, you are mostly ignored and not understood lol.

Quite simply, for John .... and any other hard of learning: The fact is, and sadly will remain, that locations will always have a bearing on race results. Why so is apparent to most ... except the John's of course. That certain changes could ensure that the deserved merits of many other fanciers could enjoy are thus denied them! The down side is the glib talkers that tickle ears will fight in any and every way to protect their corner. Human Nature I guess. The threat of 'Taking the ball away, and or, throwing Wobblies become very apparent if they fear any advantage could, let alone would be lost. Even starting new clubs, not allowing any decent flyer to join, let alone in a better location. Human Nature I guess. Many, oh so many have worked their way into a position where their voice can be heard .... but give up because it become just another voice blowing in the wilderness. Now, sadly, we come to the likes of John. The ones who do nothing but try to be clever in degrading others. Boo - hooing any logic or a debatable way forward. They find delight under a miscomprehension of being looked up to and as clever. Legends in their own minds eh! Sadly the truth is very much the opposite. Any, and everybody, has the same rights and privileges as any one else in any club or site for that matter. They certainly should be able to voice, even promote any idea as to it's worth with out the stupidity scenario's... That do nothing but degrade and force any worth while topic to grind to a halt. These so called sportsmen (Joke hick) do more harm than any good. Indeed are the very ones who invariably follow the glib talkers whom, laugh at them , but use them to the full. I often wonder how many good and favourable ideas are lost through the likes of the Johns? In deed it may become a word for being ignorant and silly, one who knows no better ... 'A John' lol.

Putting aside the heading and reading:' .......... Posted Yesterday, 15:59 PM dunc50, on 13 June 2017 - 07:22 AM, said: yes the west took 1st and 2nd in 1st national of season, could it be the change of rout ?? wot do you think lol Report I well remember the restrictions imposed via Avian Flu scandal. Besides much other, the National racing had to change course. France not allowing the birds to fly other their country. So to Belgium we went! Gosh, new names were top of the list. Different locations held their own etc. I mean just who were these upstarts that now went to the fore?! I also remember well, to their shame, the letters of protests in the rags demanding this and that ... Even many leaving the MNFC and forming their own National ... same of cliché and so called winning click. Which incidentally was a good thing ... because now the MNFC became a far, far, better National and OTHER GOOD flyers getting the merit that they, and their birds, deserved. Never mind the garbage that the same location will still benefit. Well of course it will if the same route is taken again and again. The North Road has for years known, and tried to no avail, to fly the west coast of Scotland. Better for inland flyers, and the birds would break up as and when the came into the Cotswolds. But the bias hierarchy have deemed that they would lose a march and hence the East Coast Club remains well attended by ... the few. Extra coast for lower patronise. Fewer PAYING MORE and fools swelling THEIR coffers. Merit decried and rightly so. they even widen the sections to take in more of the west endeavouring to endorse the Micheal that they were taking TO THE DETRIMENTAL of the North Road flyers who now have mostly turned to the South Road. Scandalous to say the least! So with just a few satellites clubs(Fed!) only using the convoying of the NRCC. for three races, and most of them members not bothering.

Was probably just having a good look around on vacation :emoticon-0136-giggle: . 80% will do the same again 2% go on to be good birds.
-
I don't think for a moment that unfit birds should go any where. However I think you may mean 'Race Fit'. Then yes if 'Loft Fit' and looking and playing the part, then they can be sent. Of course the knowledge you have of your' birds and distance is easy. Are they been up the road etc. will also have a bearing as to how far etc.
-
I think, like many others, that he has been taught by you John. Can't say you have improved him any though ... seems the same stamp though! :P

Well at last Danny has something right ... But then the site has known that for yonks lol.

Remember a few times when pigeons not entered into the National, but transported and released via the 'National' like for instance the NRCC. A few clubs / Feds have their birds taken and released along side of them. All of course released together. Was a time - as previously posted - when such organisations / Nationals catered for all birds. One could decide if they wanted to pay the extra to have a bird(s) entered into the National. then of course it appears today that one has to be a member OF the 'National Club' club to have your birds transported - a means of making money of course. Becuase if you want to just fly in club / fed overseas you can't, but have to pay the extra plus membership. Sad I fear.

What drag? What is Drag? What's it's merit, or none?

http://www.tmakowecki.com/Discussions/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2170 Tillsonburg Club has 3 birds with trackers on them. 1st tracks are in. Extremely interesting!! http://www.tillsonburgdrpc.com/Old%20Bi ... ne2017.pdf by jimm » Mon Jun 05, 2017 12:09 pm So much for not crossing large bodies of water .. these 3 seemed to do it with no problem. imo jimm wrote: So much for not crossing large bodies of water .. these 3 seemed to do it with no problem. imo 15282 even seemed to like it so much that it crossed the water again just for the fun of it. They did not show on sheet. However, the week previous 15282 was also tracked. 2nd time. http://www.tillsonburgdrpc.com/Old%20Bi ... 27Race.PDF See the difference in flight path.  Thought it might be of an interest. Certainly DON'T fly in a straight line. Also, as I have often quoted Pierre Dordin. Depending on wind direction and strength pigeon fly in an arc etc. Plus when we see pigeon race over head we obviously think / feel that they are flying a straight line. But as Pierre stated that they accurately zig zag constantly, to amend and keep their line -because of wind, terrain etc.

IF YOU WANT A FAIR RACE, I SUPPOSE THAT THE OLR is it. However the fact is, and has been proven, on a week to week fairness Sections should be in the shape of a boat - like a Viking shape - and libs in the wind... I.E. a helping wind for all. Will never be! Why! Only one answer to why and that is BECAUSE. Now the problem is, and will always be, those protecting their corners and always looking to gain a march. These are nigh always the ones rising to the fore in committees etc. Gibed tongues that get pseudo praise as knowing. Spin a good story for those that follow and vote their way. Whilst others just shrug their shoulders and spout that they can't do anything. That that is how it always is, and always will be. JMO. As for Danny, well a spouter and stirrer that does little else lol.

I think this is a great idea and should have been implement years ago. Taken from the Alberta Classic! You are right, Hal. Maybe the flame of curiosity is just about extinguished. Our club results can be found ... sults.html(not relevant to idea nor of an interest to most) You can see that we have again an "A Release - 10 bird entry limit" and a "B Release / Race' with no entry limit". I consider this to be an excellent arrangement because it allows the fancier with a large team to fly all of his birds and yet also provides a level playing field for all the fanciers. (RPM At club LEVEL ONE CAN ENTER JUST 10 ON CARD FOR 'A RELEASE') the Others are in the 'B Release'. The smaller and less competitive club in Edmonton uses the same system and it is also showing this arrangement to be a good solution: http://www.northlandsinvitationalhoming ... results.html Of course all result / performances are valid in Fed etc. This would also encourage fanciers to be more conspicuous of their' birds health and form etc. Barry Andrews , a great flyer, always encouragement me to try and write down the order of all birds returns. A great improving and learning strategy for all and any one. Their condition and motivation was noted of course.

The most common cause of death among small children at the turn of the twentieth century used to be dehydration caused by diarrhea. Professor Ernst Moro, a pediatrician, found that he could lower the death rate dramatically about 1908 by feeding the children a simple carrot soup and this recipe became the standard regimen until the development of antibiotics at about 1940. By far the major cause of diarrhea is an infection by micro-organisms that multiply in the intestines and excrete various toxins. This scenario causes an increase in intestinal motility and massive excretion of semi-digested food and fluids. Dr. Moro had no idea why this simple soup was so beneficial. It took modern science to uncover the secret: Various pathogenic micro-organisms attach to receptors on the intestinal wall. The preparation of the carrot soup splits the sugars present in the carrots into very small oligosaccharides which in turn are very similar to the intestinal receptors. The pathogens attach to these oligosaccharides and are safely excreted before they can cause any problems. Although no longer used against diarrhea in children this soup finds application against diarrhea in various livestock and chicken. It may be beneficial to prevent "young bird sickness" and even treat it in its very early stages. It may also be used again against infections by antibiotic resistant micro-organisms. Recipe for 40 pigeons: 1 kg diced carrots 2.5 l water 3 tsp. salt Let the above simmer for 1.5 hrs. (this time is important) and divide the liquid into 3 equal portions. Use one portion in the drinker (mixed with the appropriate amount of water) for 3 consecutive days. Should the birds already be sick it may be best to feed just some rolled oats for a few days instead of grain that may be too hard to digest. :emoticon-0136-giggle: great, wish I could buy 25 k for £2 50p lol. Maybe we should go into business eh! You buy and I'll sell at £5 a bag... Double your money and get rich as the old song goes lol :emoticon-0137-clapping:

Good news, am so glad for you. As I had so often stated every one should have an electric fence. Never mind, the Rottweiler's and jack Russell's. Only takes a mite of time and a Fox / cat etc. can and will be in. £63... 4 bags of feed, just a fraction of what many buy a bird for. WELL worth the expense to safe guard the pigeons we love.
-
Can't see a problem ... unless the neighbours complain .... but then they are probably easier to train than the birds lol You will see, and the pigeons will certainly tell you more roofer etc. than you will ever see in the loft / handling etc. OK the dropping under the perch/ best boxes give an indicator of the condition when dropping. But then every time of day will produce a different dropping. JMO.
