Good to see fighters putting their titles on the line. Too many, far too many shield away from doing so ... with the flimsiest of excuses. Indeed the 'Title' should on the line for every fight. True many take insufficient fights between the 'Real fight'. But then it is on the line and open for a set back or shock. Or are we saying it's good that a set back or shock shouldn't be the case.

In Scotland. I have always had whims to travel Scotland, and Wales for that matter. Since retiring over 10 years ago now, Joyce and I have been lucky to have done much. Indeed most years at least once. I also did a lot of Entertainment gigs too in these countries before I retired. Again we enjoyed our stay in Scotland. Steve Taylor was kind enough to give us a loft visit, which again I enjoyed. I said, and meant, his birds were in a healthy and fine fettle... though well into the moult. One I handled was hot enough to be on par with a hot water bottle. It handled a treat. Thanks you Steve for the time with you. I enjoyed it very much. I visited sites, some again - that our North Road birds have flown for over a 100 years. Went up as far as Banff and Fraserborough. Spent time in Huntley and many places around and on way / back. Missed our chance, through time, to take the ferry from Aberdeen to the Shetlands. Joyce and I plan to do that soon, taking in also Thurso. Thanks Scotland we enjoyed it ... We are of to Brecon Falls first week in October, and then first week in November to Devon.

Done more for our sport. I have put forward many good and worthwhile thoughts and plans in the past, I believe. I have always put myself forward.... For example I saw our Fed president's works factory bring in a 'Pigeon Catch' to dispose of Feral etc.. He- the president - was quite pleased that he made sure no bird with a ring was called but reported back to the owner ... only for most to be back shortly. Basic cast was £1000 and a fee for every one caught, PLUS a £1 each for any culled. Now often we here the downside and grumbles because of these townies. We had the trapping devise, and could have easily made more for a very small price. Now when the council PAID marks men to go out at night and shoot them, much was the out cry from Joe Public. So I said why don't we let the public see us catch and take these pigeons away and out of sight. they'd be happy thinking that most would be returned home.... I was the ONLY one prepared to do it. I wasted a rota where every one able took a turn... Once every 6 weeks or less. Never a one voice of agreement. Then later a downing of the idea! Fancier bragging to Joe Public how culling is essential to be successful! The idea, which I posted on here a few years back regards interest and costs. Get a few firms to Buy / sponsor our 'One loft'. Where their birds would be transported and cared for by our club / fed. A league set up for interest and a twice weekly - or more of articles in local papers. Further we could run a tote with the publication  of birds entered and a nominal fee to choose the pigeon number and where they would be racing from etc. the phone company said for a nominal fee of each phone call to that number meant it was easy to set up. Winning pigeons and owners having a write up on following Tuesday. Profits spilt where appropriate. Club results separate from the Companies results. All birds entered. No winning pigeon chosen means carried forward to next week. That was the base for developing the idea. Nary a one would even consider it. Not even those whinging none stop regard the cost of racing! Much more could also be done. the local paper would be putting something most days. Loft reports. National results etc. Too many have sat back. Too many find lame excuses... because too many abide and agree so that they don't get involved, or had to get off their back sides. Too many love to spout, moan and call, and shake a rattle from the stands. If half the effect put in to moan, was put into helping, contriving for the betterment, and not derogative downers, this sport would still be on an even keel.

Because captive birds, even kept, bred in great aviaries couldn't compete. Yes now that is no longer legal and all must have to be rung. Mind some may well be rung in the wild. Budgies? I won't comment other than to repeat what's in the post - if you are able to read and understand. But then one wouldn't expect you to realise facts... especially when they down fit. You know a simple fact is that any Bird/ animal - insect taken from it's environment mostly dies, or best suffers, struggles and becomes, lets say inferior. The examples are rife, nigh all. Some will spout 'Eh Wolves survive any where etc. in nigh any environment etc. - Not true, but would have a high success rate ... but be inferior to ... Take the town fox. Has food galore and variety etc. Not anything like a countryside fox. In looks or, ability, stamina etc. etc. Avery poor cousin. So any species will either die, or become inferior. - Yes a few exceptions, but then if one delves into why, it becomes apparent it doesn't / isn't so. Change of environment whether man made or man caused. Asian Lions or Elephants can't swap with success. Another big downer, and proven fact - time after time - is incest breeding. Typical example is the American cougar. Reintroduce into certain states for pacific reasons.... Found in a short period of time that they had become inferior. Both in size and began to have deformities. Puzzles their droppings showed incest breeding. Their tails became shorter and twisted. Then it became apparent why...Incest! Because a big motor way prevented them crossing over into another territory. So they built tunnels under the motor ways and brought in new blood. All creatures have a way to prevent incest breeding. All is fine now. Dog shows now allow, for example dogs not up to par... Like the Alsatians having lost it straight back and it's *expletive removed* is dropping away. Royalty etc. in history and village idiot syndrome prove that to close breeding causes brain damage, loss in as much as it functions damaged. Birds now are become disorganize due to the city lights where they now have constant light 24 hours nigh. A little change can and maybe acceptable in some cases. Have yet to see any fish bred in aquariums be a patch of wild caught fish. even in massive tanks. Colour becomes dimmer and shape etc. When the 'Paradise fish was first discovered it was because of the moving mud that caught the eye. When fetched out and the mud took away they saw a most beautiful coloured fish! Placed to breed in clean water - environment - they lost shape and their beautiful colouring ... it paled. I paid many times over 'Tank Bred Malawi and Tange fish ... for wild caught fish.( Mind it was rare I could afford it... But like top fanciers, I swapped and done deals with other like minded fish keepers) These fish were and are far superior by far. Likewise in all nature. Now we take out pigeons and change their breeding circle. then adopt the 'Darkness' System. Some go out and pay, pay say £2000 for a couple of pairs of pigeon. Breed excessively. Most by far breed piddle dip. YET still the breed on. Brother to mothers sister etc. Losing constitution. Any built in immunity. Spout that because they paid such a price, excuse after excuse is invented. Hawks, weather, clashing etc. The race controller. Adverse weather etc. They believe, mistakenly sadly, that top fanciers are doing the same. Never ever do they look at the cause in the mirror! Great pigeons often breed culls. Fact! Two strays can breed great racers and have done. Jansenn father ALWAYS brought in to never have close related birds. We stuff them with 'Crap' willy - nilly because some so called fancier is paid a lot of money to say he gives it regularly! 20,000 fanciers are sending times more than the 140,000 ever did each week. A small team then flew the programme ever year. Birds on acorns or whatever they could afford won out of turn. Beat the massive teams of Frankie George, Masserella etc. often Bad weather or hard races meant birds homed 2 -5 days after. Often sent then week - end to shine and do well. Still excuses after excuses as why! YET we continue to fill up the town centres etc. Many believe in 'KISS, and quote it. Keep it sweet and simple. Genuine fancier mean and do it! Most say it and forget it. No wonder the environment we demand for the pigeons don't suit!

Well have 2 or 3 more then I suppose. My brother -in law is on a council where some parts are barred from having pigeons. I challenged him that no bye law can supersede a law of the land - as that fancier got a few grand compensation when he went to court against Leicester council. He said 'Well no one has every challenged it ... or is likely to'.
