  1. Of course, and have even known fanciers to slip a message saying 'Fed / Watered'.
  2. Weer, then I suppose there is a bit of skullduggery going on too then ... at a saving of £1 10p Iguess they will be tempted in like with Pouters etc.
  3. Suppose, looking on the bright side, it is a good good that the Rings can't be re - used, or the'd always be coming home with them missing eh!
  4. Simple really.... some are peeved with the 'back door' way of bringing ET's in, and some anti ET's just say 'Stuff You'! Simple that. Suppose it will die a death sometime :-/
  5. There!!! Mind about blumming time too! :o And what happened to my £25 bid for the three :-/ :-/ ;D ;D ;D Mind I do hate it so - like many more on here do - when the vendor plays a wait and see game to hopefully bolster the price 8) 8) :K) Only two answers to any question Yes or No!
  6. Go on then. £25 the three, and forget the corn ;D ;D
  7. Nice post lenwadebob. Good results I hope for you and them both.
  8. They clock in part seconds. I put up, and could possible again where 17 times in the second. 38 birds clocked in a secon.... several same 100th of a second. Then I believe the print goes on an Alphebetical order of ring numbers.
  9. No reserve If over £20 the delivery is paid for. Buy the lot for £50, and not only do they deliver free, but will chuck in 2 / 3 bags of corn to your liking! Great deal really I guess
  10. Had two picked up Saturday. First class service. Knew exactly what was happening every minute. Knew where the birds were constantly, cost less than £20 too1 For for just over two hundred miles round trip ! Nice fellow, with a loverly partner! . .... . . . . . I enjoyed the visit too.
  11. Move around slowly ALWAYS and talk soft to them. Ex missis - a ladies voice is softer (Mostly and far better) would just walk into the garden, and with them pretty high circling, could just call them, they trapped like one!!
  12. Well I believe that it may well be the case where Couriers of Live stock stick to the own counties. Yes tsharing the burden - for this seems to be just around the corner for them. Yes, there may well be a notch available then for more local and able couriers. Further, I believe, a little thought and effort to set up a relay / stations etc. could well become the order of the day. Say Northants, where I am, Two or three of us could well meet up and deliver birds. Yes and fetch and pass on birds. Now this is not intend for 'Food for Thought' with a regard to lessening costs. That is a seperate issue, and in all fairness I believe the average price is about right remembering that one has to fuel, insure and matain their vechiles and still py the morgage etc. Further, we could have sensible holding stations. Same day and over night if needs be. But in the main, I believe the goal to strive for is reliability. Contacting and explaining must then play a part.
  13. Well said Albear. Think many are rueing the day Amtrax packed up .... and I know that you had a few run in with them lol. Remember speaking to them regards a pick up from you. Went to give your addie, She butted in 'No need, we well know where Mr albear lives etc. ;D ;D But like I said then, and still hold today, they literually handles thousands a week, and a % of crap happens. I use to get on great with the local one here, and foretunately, like 1000's more, never had a problem. Still, dreams of yesteryear .... Chuff chuff whoo uuu. Yes the trains were first class, and so very reliable, and handled 1000's too.... zzzzzzzzzzzzz
  14. So sorry to hear mate. Yes, I'd say 95%, as near as dam it that the East in the wind was the culprit. ESPECIALLY any yearlings, they hate it! Sorry to say, but if the East remains in the wind, as forecast and we have now, the same story will be heard this week end. personally I have cared for the birds to chuck them away, so seems likely I won't be racing this week - end. Could chance a few 2 yo's, but what for? :-/ To knock them back a couple of weeks - or so. :-/

I checked it for bruises but could not find something wrong. All were basketed for 140km tos today and after liberation the courier phoned me and told me that one of my birds was dead in the basket. After giving me the number i remembered that it was the one with the seemingly sore foot. The other birds came well from the toss, no problems at all. Has anybody got an idea what could have gone wrong with this bird, dying within 24hours? 16. Gosh ... Then you tie with the 'Worst Speller / Pronunciations / Grammer on Site' award lol
  17. Well liked it better when camaflaging you name via using the Spell Check lol :P ;D ;D Old traits die hard I guess lol.
  18. Great flying ... a feat next to 'Village Lad' in regards a fancier I'd say. Terrific flying, well done.
  19. That would have to be 1 Score for me lol ;D ;D But do rate the fellow but as a breeder and racer. Good to read too.
  20. On a couple of occasions I have voiced that I thought a certain Forum member came over to be as a very genuine fellow, that I thought he housed good birds. Well yesterday I did a per usual loft visit, travelling 107 miles to see this fellow and collect a bird I’d bought. Can’t praise high enough. First off the wife welcomed Joyce and I to refreshments and we had some idle chatter waiting for the boss to arrive who was buying his corn etc. We were made very welcome indeed via the whole family and later a good friend of his. We then visited the lofts leaving the ladies etc. to put the world to rights. Great set up! Yes I learnt a little more, had a little of my thoughts and views confirmed. And 2 hours went so very quickly. After having some eating time was to go. I could have stayed all day. Yes I came away now know what I’d always suspected, that this fellow was very genuine, did house some very good birds indeed, and is – as far as I am concerned, as honest as the day is long! Thank you John Gladwin of Formula Loft, with putting up with us. Very much appreciated. What a very down to earth and great family you have, plus a great set up and loft system. In fact even Joyce enjoyed herself ... Indeed Joyce has now gone to a Loft visit now and actually enjoyed it… That is another first. Yes I would recommend John to each and everyone. Finished the visit on the seaside, so that was a bonus, greasy Dripping fis and chips walking along the seafront. Little things that please eh! But it did round off a great day! ;D
  21. One thing I have learnt at great cost these two last seasons is 'Must realise that when introducing new birds you just don't know, nor understand their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses, or wether they will adopt to your system, take to your loft and further, what if any liberyties you can take with them. So it is very much a new learning curve again. My old stock I knew I could do vastly different and more than with these. Knew that I'd built a team of Homers and hard / distance racers. These are very much an unknow quality to me, and have lost through expecting them to act, re - act the same as the old stock. This, I now firmly believe can't be done.
  22. Don't think you made a mistake. I think you, like most blame yourselve regardless because some were lost. Chances are strong that they would have been lost sooner than later any way. As for tjhe wires.... Got one her that has been skinned big time under the breast , right the way across and to the tail. Treated her of course. But they were released in a field with no wire, obstacles etc. etc. Yes I feel for the bird. First I knew was when she got of the nest and the eggs were stuck to her. Time consuming and very gentle using soap warm water I cleaned her up. 14 day eggs boken and stuck to her. She is recuperating nicely... So in spite of, crap happens. Chin up, beat yourselve up if you feel better for it... But....
  23. Best to let be and leave them altogether if it's y/b's sickness. The quicker it goes through the lot and they recuperate the better. Like most, if not all illnesses come to that!
