  1. Just over 15 years ago the wife and I purchased from the pick of the litter Mac who was a Labrador/Retriever and he had a marvellous life especially when we worked on the estates. His favourite was when out with the gun he would quarry and rise game birds out of Barley or wheat fields and all you could see was his tail sticking straght up when going about his business. When we retired 4 years past we would walk 4 miles daily untill he started having difficulty with his back legs. Friends said he definately had contracted athritis and we went along with their prognosis giving him Omega 3 capsules and a herbal tablet which appeared to work but his excersizing days were caput when he collapsed and we had to carry him home. His condition worsened over the past year and seemed to have lost control of his rear legs and back passage to the extent we took him to the vet to put him out of his misery. The vet who had watched him on cctv whilst in the waiting room said he was not in pain and was a happy dog asked when we informed her of his athritis if he had been professionally examined and we told her in the negative, She then examined him feeling him all over and internally also twisting his legs and proclaimed he had nothing wrong internally and he most certainly did not have athritis. What her prognosis was that some of his brain cells had ceased to function which was why he would lose control of his rear legs with the message taking extra time to inform his functions what to do. we told her we did not want to prolong the inevitable however their is a new drug which increases the blood flow to the brain and reoxygenates what cells are left so we put him on a course of them. All appeared to be working fine with control of his legs refunctioning and no more jobbies to pick up from his bed in the morning, We even started excercising again all be it only 1/2 mile morning and evening but it was not to last and to-day he collapsed and was crying with frustration. we had to arrange my son to come and carry him to the car and into the Vet to have him put to sleep. we will miss him as he was part of our family and much loved. Perhaps if we had not listened to others and taken him to the vet at the start and had him on this medication sooner he would still be here and for that we am having great difficulty in accepting that this could have been avoided if we had acted sooner. Rest in Peace old friend.
  2. Florenicol is reccomended by the U.K. DEFRA which is good enough for me !. BUT whilst on the subject of destroying good and bad Bacteria as Baytril does why not dose with 3 quarters of a teaspoon VIRCON "S" to 1 gallon of water for 5 days followed up by 1 week prebiotics and probiotics. Then once a month 3 days Vircon "S". When using this product you will never have to use any antibiotics again, and its cheap..
  3. Introflor which is Florenicol 10ml x 1Ltr water for 3 days is what is reccomended for poultry if confirmed by Vet.
  4. Brings back memories when I was playing for the school counties team, The left half got smacked in the goolies with a wet "bladder" and collapsed, The trainer rushed on and massaged them with the result an erection took place. well after the trainer had skelpt his ear and called him a durty wee bassa we just could not stop laughing and it gave us the excuse for getting stuffed 4-0. Oh Happy Days LOL.
  5. Never read so much crap, The public have been hoodwinked for years regarding pollution levels.
  6. VERY Alf !!. Regarding not having room on the transporters ?, I doubt very much if that many would wish to join as quite a few are big fish in small ponds and would be small fish in big ponds. :emoticon-0126-nerd:

  9. You have the perfect loft to create a ventury ventilation system where all you require is to put a vent on the front of the loft. The system works thus, Air will blow through either the front or back at roof level sucking air through the bottom louvres and up through the false ceiling taking with it dust as well as stale air into the ventury you have created and exit it all through the down-wind exiting louvre as you have created a vacuum "suction"..You can even shut the bottom louvres off if you feel their is too much air coming into the loft.
  10. Congratulations John, It was only right it should stay in Lanarkshire and you should be applauded for your actions.
  11. Yip, That's what I call real eye sign and I would love to know how to retain that quality of eye ?.

  13. Aye John its a goshawk and I speak from experience. The first thing they do after a kill is rip the head off.
  14. Have to disagree Vince, None of what you mentioned is dangerous. People whose actions are unpredictable can make anything dangerous and accidents can happen through the best of intentions. More people will be injured to-night by a motor vehicle than a firework but we wont ban them.
  15. Are you speaking from experience Vince ?.
  16. Dear oh dear !! Was I the only youngster that loved bonfires and squibs when I was young and still enjoy them to-day. Organised displays are not the same as getting the bonfire wood for days before, raiding others bonfires pile, and guarding it so they could'nt pinch it back. Lighting the bangers with a match and when the squibs were finished putting tatties in the fire to roast and burning your fingers peeling the skin from them, The smell and taste that is etched in your memory even now. Now its all political correctness and health and safety !!. Kids to-day dont know what living is and some parents just want to wrap them up in cotton wool. To them I say GET A LIFE.
