  1. Six years I believe.
  2. No 1. I believe Mr Rankine attempted to discuss this at a Management Committee meeting and was not allowed to do so. Hence he waited till the AGM and was still not allowed to speak on the situation. "Cover Up ?". No 2. Mr McCord is part of No 1 and Mr Davidson was President of the alleged Mr Gibson incident. No 3 & No 4. Self explaining and brought to the attention of the members by Management Committee Member Ian Brown which seemed to leave members speechless. SO who is running the SNFC ??. "Is somebody pulling strings ??". All of this is facts and definately requires addressing by and to the concerned members.
  3. In the seventies I asked Eddy Newcombe if the birds came out the South or East and he replied South West. In other words they broke from the Solway area which I found strange however in the early Eighties I used to fly regularly from Edinburgh to Heathrow and I will never forget seeing as the plane went in a curved flight just East of the Solway Firth. Looking out the window I could understand what he meant as from the Solway area the valleys heading North West were apparent from a height of 20,000 feet all the way through to the East of Scotland Pentlands. When working in the Cotswald's 5 miles East of Cheltenham I could see racing at 2,000 feet SNFC birds on their way home which would have them coming up the West side of the Pennine Chain into the Solway area. The Southern Uplands are pretty formidable to a lone pigeon in my opinion and it would take the easier route via the Pentlands adding another 100 miles to the West flying birds which is why Eddy done so well. To answer Dave's question I believe the West Section fanciers are more concerned with big birdage Fed racing rather than keeping a team of long distance birds. There are of course exception's.
  4. This is exactly what entrapment is.
  5. Once again another person has fell foul of the law and it appears he did not have a clever lawyer to produce a defense capable of having his case thrown out of court in my opinion. Should it have been myself I would have made instructions with my lawyer to prove ENTRAPMENT as cameras were placed alowing me to continue creating an offence. The RSPB officers were tresspassing on a private estate with no right of way and should have reported it immediately to Law Officers "Police" which would have aproached me of the offence I was about to commit allowing me to reply the trap was for the removal of corvids. This would have been sufficient that I had been rumbled and disposed of the trap.
  6. The ex Secretary Mr Garven looked distinctly uncomfortable when Ian Brown disclosed that piece of information. :emoticon-0138-thinking:
  7. Wiz jist aboot tae pit in that oor Presi retired an some ither bloke taen ower.
  8. No's 1 & 4.
  9. Hope all went well John and I too will be out of commission for about 8 weeks when I go in for a new knee very soon. Meantime I am training my good lady the proper way to handle the scrapers and all loft chores that require doing on a daily basis with my brother supervising. :emoticon-0138-thinking:
  10. Sunday past, the brother and I paid a visit to one of if not the best National fancier in Scotland at the present time to see what I had to do to level the playing field at the distance. We were left reeling at their magnifigance, handling bird after bird that had reached the pinnacle of National success at 500-600 miles and wondered how simple it could be with the proper bloodlines. Handling a pigeon which had bred 14 Individual National Diploma Winners left me speechless. The hospitality we also received was second to none and what the pigeon fraternity was about. Where were we ?? David Jamieson at East Calder.
  11. Never tried darkening youngsers nor ever likely to and won more than my share racing natural stopping them individually when the covers fall. I dont know if they are more likely to finish the programme or not but look at it this way. If the largest bulk of race candidates are darkness Y/B why are the losses greater now than in the past, with many on darkness are the losses greater. I know of one fancier who won much with darkies but his losses were greater and found his breeding from them produced poorer specimens in future years to the extent he has almost wiped out what were a successful team and cannot finish any programme.
  12. I hope that fact is discussed next week. As you say, he was proposed and seconded by the members present.
  13. If my memory serves me correctly in my dotage, the last post I can recall reading posted by Bigda was proven to be true. Whether you agree with him or not is not the question. It should be mandatory for administrators to explain WHY in their opinion a Basics Member has been banned, Or is it a case of its ma baw an your no getting a game. !!.
  14. Surprised at your retort John as your garden could have looked as good as your neighbours with 4" on it.
  15. As one who tends his flower bed vigouresly with exotic plants I do tend to notice little things when they happen. Over the years in my horticultural endeavours throughout the U.K. what I noticed this week is my Daffodils have came through. Gardening has taught me much about forecastng weather to the extent that if Spring Bulbs appear in December beware of severe frosts as they are coming through now because they know they cannot push through frozen ground when they should. I should have also paid heed to Lawn growth in Novenber as it still required cutting which meant grass growth is its way of protecting roots from severe winter frosts. Oh aye and my Garlic has shot through as well and their aint been any spring weather in my garden as of late.
  16. Not wishing to be embroiled in politics I feel you never read any of their proposals thoroughly or you would never have voted "yes". All their proposals were based on an economy which was a votalite comodity that is governed by world prices and NOT a stable guarantee. Other facts such as Sterling, Agriculture, Industry and Banking were reviewed with expert advice and were according to the SNP either wrong or lies to frighten the population. Sterling :- We will use the £ as its ours. Agriculture :- Is dependant on EU handouts. Industry :- The new Forth Road bridge was given to foreign companies and shipbuilding depends on MOD contracts. Banking :- Every major financial institutions would have relocated to England. Oh and before I forget. We would welcome 1 Million immigrants to work and pay tax to cover our Pensions. YOU MUST BE HAVING A LAUGH.
  17. Would put the young hens to a full brother of the sire and the other to a full brother of the dam then send me a pair of them.
  18. Better no take yir hat off you will get a chill in the heid LOL.
  19. Out of curiosity I wondered if any fancier has had a really good pigeon with a flesh coloured beak ?. Its just with over 50 years in the game I cannot recollect ever seeing one. Their must be the exception to the rule "their always is" its just I have never came across one.
  20. I noticed birds I had brought in this year had quill lice, As I give quite a lot of Garlic in the drinker and vinegar in the bath their is no more lice on them. I Have in the past dipped them in Chlorocarb,Duramitex and some other I forget which, and found that, yes it cleared the feathers, but also removed the oils from them and the only way you can tell if they have recovered what you have taken out is when the tail feathers have ceased loking bedraggled after a bath. Has any one noticed that latebreds with nest feathers especially the tail take hours to dry out, so imagine what they are like when racing and get drenched in a heavy shower. Perhaps we should be aware of the chance of showers when racing / training them with the possibility they will be put down with no opportunity of rising again. JMO.
