  1. Eh !!.
  2. 24 m3 is 2 cubic ft = 24 birds as Derek suggested. To come to this mathematical equation 24 is inches as 36 inches = 1 metre therefore 7 x 7 x 7 equates to 84x84x84 = 592,704 inches divided by 2 cubic feet 12x12x12x14 = 24194 = 24.5 birds.
  3. Where I worked in the Cotswolds the loft was exactly 1,000 feet above sea level. I have observed Midland National birds travelling Northwards at least 1,000 feet above where I was. Eddie Newcombe told me many years ago that the winners always are the high fliers and the ones you see at near ground level are the also rans. Good topic Lewis.
  4. Sorry Derek their is nothing wrong with my maths. To reach the cubic yard you do not divide by the number of birds. The formula is 7 x 7 x 6 = 294 sq feet divided by 27 = 10.88 cubic yards. I was always told a pigeon requires 1 cubic yard especially in a closed stock loft.
  5. Derek, Your calculation works out roughly 18ins x 18ins per cubic square per pair of birds.
  6. If you have a contact number fine if not phone 07836363664

  15. Does your atomic clock have a nuclear reactor ? no wonder you are green!.
  16. Its not often I agree with you Peter but in an earlier post I wrote the forecast I had from the weather channel stated the odd light shower for Saturday at Appleby and still maintain the poor weather will be just below Appleby judging by the telly. PS. its still forecasting occasional showers for Appleby A.M. P.S. dont know what XCetra weather station is ?.
  17. In the 60s 70s 80s all the Scottish feds with few exceptions went the West coast route and still got hammered back and forth with the Welsh North roaders liberating up to 20,000 birds in front of us and they never gave us the time of day regarding liberations times until we told them we were on a delayed liberation when most of the Scottish Feds were at leyland and the Welsh convoy of 15,000 liberated the same time we put up about 30,000 Scottish birds and if you old guys can remember most Scottish fanciers had Welsh strays in our lofts. That clashing incident stopped the Welsh from dominating the skies on the West route. As regards this week-end. Why are we informed Thursday that basketing Saturday for a Sunday race when Friday is a better forecast ?. In my club we are all retired or unemployed likewise most clubs in the Midland Fed. So'oo WHY DID WE NOT BASKET FOR A FRIDAY RACE or is that too blinking obvious.
  18. I was rectifying my obvious spelling mistake however the blue is water which I take to be rain and the brown is a muddy puddle which I take to be a muddy puddle !. The green being the Bermuda Triangle I will visit in January.
  19. Hey aint this technology good What does it mean or could you please explain the difference between blue and brown are for the uninitiated like me.
  20. Poor Peter wrong again !! even when he is wrong he is right and when he is right he is wrong. Is that right or wrong Peter ???.
  21. If two organisations are using the same master timer with different setting and checking times the latter checking organisation can disqualify you on presenting an open clock "no seal". If both race organisations agree to read your clock simultaniously then the problem is solved. JMO
  22. The weather forecast for Appleby 25th August. Occasional light rain. Does not appear to me severe enough to call the race off, Lets face it the weather forecasters very rarely get it right and I have spent £30 on petrol training this week expletive remove.
  23. Why is it when people are proposed and accept positions within organisations the title goes to their head and delusions of grandeur creep into the equation ?. Does anyone sit them down at the start and explain just exactly what is expected of them and the limit of their job description. This to my mind is the problem. For instance I am the race controler, I will say when where and if the birds will be liberated ! But the rules say different ! Tough I am the race controller I will say when, where and if the birds will be liberated ! Oh and because I fly in the East and my birds fly the East coast route the race will be from the East because I am the race controller and I will determine where, when and if the birds will be liberated. Strike a chord ?. I am the Clocksetter, I will determine when the clocks will be set, resets will be done and checked. What if !! A repeat of it all.
  24. I have no intention of bringing politics onto the forum ! However when there are both sides of a coin I will tell you my side of a particular experience. Brown " I refuse to give him his title " in his first budget robbed the Private Pension Funds to the tune of BILLIONS which has cost me dearly. Legalising the stealing of my private pension pot by 75% which I had paid in through working all my life and accumulated by studying the market and having my savings grow. I have never claimed or been unemployed all my life and if anyone has ruined my retirement it lies at the doorstep of labour who wants to keep you down and not succeed. I hope they all burn in hell.
