Derek, I never posted the previous to make light of the subject its just that like many if not every-one we give grit yet most times I end up dumping the grit in the bucket. The birds have a gizzard for grinding feed after soaking in the crop and I personally have stopped supplying grit as to me its a waste of money. I really only wanted a bit of feed back on the subject.

Sorry Andy, missed the programme and my appologies for making light out of others misfortune. I personally cannot concieve what it would be like to have my abode of a life-time taken away from me but had I spent over 50 years in a house then I do think it would take more than a scrap of paper to have me removed. As feathers are largely derived from protein would it not be wise to ensure they are fed on a high protein diet during the moult as once they have grown their is nothing you can do to improve them. JMO

Not taking offence and never would however the beautiful game is all about passing the ball with control between players of your team which is something Scottish football lacks. If we disected the game this evening Darren Fletcher was the only Scot to have any brains and was left holding the ball due to no one being available to accept a pass with them being static. Andy, It took ages to find a suitable garden to accomodate a race loft, stock loft, garden shed, outside table and 6 chairs, greenhouse, washing burlie, privacy, car stand, pub within 50 yards and paper shop within 100 yards. A wood burner was the last thing on my mind however the wife has it on her agenda when the landlord next visits to take it up with him. If I knew then what I know now I would have raked about in the South East coast 2 years ago for an old cottage with 1/4 an acre of land or preferably stayed down south in sunnier climes.

For eight years we were in accomodation with a wood burner which the wife and I miss terribly. If we had our own house instead of renting we would have installed one. For anybody who has not experienced the magic of a wood burner you have never lived.

Spent half the morning deciding what reply I should post regarding insinuations of disrespect etc on last night's sober posts.

Walter, I only restarted last year again with gift birds after a long break and as we should know it takes roughly three years to get established. If I had retired to the South East coast I would have won a National by this time.

When inland nationals are the subject of discussion we in the central belt are flying 300-400 miles which are not distance races as far as I am concerned. I joined the SNFC 50 years ago to fly from France not England and to be perfectly honest I am fed up with the bleating from North Section members complaining that they have to fly 100-150 miles more than we do. They have a tail wind in many races up the East coast where we in the West have 50-70 mile head winds to finish a race off. As regards the split in the Nationals if you dont know the real reason then I wont be spelling it out to you but it had absolutely nothing to do with loft location. As far as I am concerned I have only posted the truth of the matter and I am sure you know the old saying,Truth sometimes hurts.

How many members from the North of Scotland are members of the SNFC ? I notice in Clermont they sent 77 birds and are we to take them into consideration when 1622 birds were sent ? . Too much emphasis is accorded to the North section when the huge bulk of fanciers are in the Central belt and they are the ones who should have priority consideration, After all they are the ones who make up the huge bulk of the SNFC.

When I went for that toss I put 14 in one basket which I was not enamoured with and put them up at Carstairs. I got 1 home on the Monday from that basket. The other basket had 12 which I fancied and liberated at Carnwath 10 of them made it home on the second day.

I said 25 years ago we are breeding young from single parents who will breed more young from single parents which will be three generations of young who have never had two parent control and you can guarantee 90% of them will have never been employed or want to be employed Living on hand outs they expect as a right.

Andy, When you have a toss with late breds such as the one I had then you should have little to worry about as they will be hard to lose next year
