  1. Interesting that I think most fanciers have at least a mobile phone with internet access.I communicate with all of my members via e mail or text.
  2. I will tell you that I do not make a 135 mile round trip in the middle of winter to be a f****** nodding dog
  3. The SHU balance sheet for the year 2017 and the agenda and notification of the 2017 AGM are freely available on the SHU web site to any fancier who has notified his e mail address to the organisation.Maybe not perfect but certainly not secretive as is being alleged.Only a handful of members bothered to attend today's AGM.
  4. I thought it was a great show, then I'm no hard to please. There were several stalls an auction of doos which I was assured by experts went for reasonable prices. The pigeons on display looked great and a credit to their owners, the catering was excellent and the opportunity to meet up with fanciers I normally only see in the summer was very welcom.I personally think that the £3 entrance fee was not unreasonable.I know that a lot of effort goes into organising and running the SHU show and long may it continue.
  5. Put a bath out for the pigeons this morning. The b******* completely ignored it.

Bit concerned here I thought I had the monopoly on the term "crabbit faced auld man".Why should others have a go at my title.

I am not long home from the Solway Fed. AGM.where mostly internal matters were discussed which are of little interest to this forum. However despite my protests about my venerable age I was re-elected as Vice President and delegate to the SHU.When I find myself driving the 65 miles or so back to theSolwayfrom the central belt on a dark rainy miserable winter evening I can look forward to reflecting on my good fortune to have landed such a cosy job. .

I do not know the answer to that.I have been told several times over the past few years that pigeon racing is in the hands of old men.I plead guilty to that I am f****** ancient and I would stand down tomorrow if any younger man could be persuaded to take over.

I can see that but I am sure you will agree very many fanciers are closer in any event the numbers attending the SHU AGM are derisory.

Here is a fact for you guys.My federation has 135 racing lofts and 164 members, the AGM is tomorrow when we will be lucky to see 40 members. The AGM of the SHU is usually about a week before Christmas in a hotel in Whitburn sometimes as many as 10 members attend.I make no criticism here but some might say apathy rules.
  11. I made the first post not to upset anyone but I ain't no shrinking violet ,I hope I can accept criticism despite being pretty ancient.I must confess to being slightly surprised at the lack of comment over the resignation of the hard working and popular secretary of the Scottish National Flying Club.
  12. Used to get really good stuff on this site such as What's gone wrong with the SNFC or solutions to the predator problem or fanciers whom we all respect explaining their training methods we used to get loft visits and long time pigeon fanciers expounding their views Now we get rivetingly important stuff such as when and how often you change your undererwea.
  13. The whole loft is scraped and brushed every single day
  14. Really sorry to hear this Steven could you be good enough to let me know funeral arrangements.
  15. Does this mean that unison rings bought at the SHU show in December will beat a 2018 price rise?
  16. Hope you make a good recovery Mr Boswell we cannot afford to lose a fancier with such a good Christian name
  17. Surely if replies to a columnist must be confined to the BHW his content should be similarly restricted
