Yeah right Roland where are the sheep when the call goes out for positions to be filled at an AGM mostly studying the floor beside their boots.Where are the sheep when someone is needed to travel up to a 200 mile round trip on a dreadful winters day to help the pigeon fancy where are the sheep then Roland maybe on the sidelines bleating.

If any member of a federation is unable to convince his fellow members of the brilliance of his "new ideas"his only recourse is to retreat to the sidelines and bleat about dinosaurs.

It is perfectly simple if you have something to put forward at a Federatiom AGM all you have to do is notify the fed secretary in the requisite time frame and then getup on your hind legs and speak on your motion and hopefully convince others.Of course you must make it clear you are speaking as an individual member and not backed by your club.Happens all the time.

Yes Roland you are probably correct in saying that the pigeon fancy is run by old men,dinosaurs if you like and I am one of them soon to be extinct but I am not so pessimistic as you.I am not going to name anyone but I can think of several young guys currently making themselves heard in the Scottish pigeon scene who are anxious for change and full of New and different ideas,maybe I am delusional but I think change is in the air.

Well I do not know if I would be comfortable debating anything with someone as certain of their ground as you but my point is that all the critics are curiously absent when posts for the administration of pigeon organisations require to be filled.

You have always got a lot to say Roland why do you not step up and do something fresh thinking is always welcome.

Interesting post I take the perhaps unusual view that it is a privilege to be a club secretary.I have been secretary of my club for about 20 years I have been auditor, president and now Vice President of my federation.I have never taken any payment except occasionally petrol money for travelling to meetings of the SHU council..I am not and never will be much of a fancier but I love having racing pigeons around and I suppose I feel that taking on these administrative positions allows me to give something back to the fancy which gives me such enjoyment.

This very tame bird flew into my conservatory this morning bearing a unikon ring on one leg and a yellow ring and race rubber on the other.It is now in my loft eating and drinking, if unclaimed I will take it to Abington later in the week

I picked up this doo from my garden at 9pm last night (16th.June) completely flown out and really thin.It is now convalescing here in seclusion on a diet of Gem products Royals mix, matrix and fresh water.If it picks up I will release it at Abington in about a week

I received a letter from the Bank of Scotland yesterday in my capacity as club secretary.Seemingly they want me to write out a cheque for the birdage money in favour of our Federatiom as normal.They then suggest that I take a photo of the cheque on my I phone and transmit the photo to the fed. secretariy's I phone and he in turn sends the photo to the Feds bank. I do not think I will take up this amazing offer.

I spoke to Mr McLeod this morning and took this pigeon over the Beeftub on the A701 only to find the road closed at Tweedsmuir where I liberated the doo.Hope it got home.
